Whats the dimension from the root of the tooth to the ring mounting surface on the "thick" ring gear for a dana 60? How about "thin"??
Ie ... if you bought a ring and pinion set with no packaging, how would you tell which you had? Without going thru the hassle of trying to set it up.

Isn't it usually stamped on the outer edge of the gear? Is there a way you could jig up the gears to turn em to check the ratio, or lay the ring gear down on the mounting surface and roll the pinion around it?

HUH?!?!!?
The teeth fit perfectly, and I know the ratio. I'm just wondering how to tell thick from thin.
Anybody got a set of 60 gears that they know are thick or thin that can take a caliper to them for me? Distance from root of tooth to ring gear mounting surface is all I really need to know. Specify i.d. or o.d..

Hey Aggro - it's not exact or anything, but approx 15/16" for the thick gear on my D60 front. It's a hi-pin 5.13 if it matters

That dimension changes somewhat with ratio.
A 5.38 "thick" gear will be thicker than a 4.56 "thick" gear.
You might state the ratio of yours for comparison.

Take the numbers off the ring gear and call Randy's Ring and Pinion. They'll tell you anything you want to know
