hey all,
last week i bought another 80 toy 4x4 w/22r-1500 miles on the motor. today i drove it to work no problems on the way home at idle the pressure dropped to less than ten, when i give it gas it jumps up to 60 @2000 rpm, and if i give it alot of gas i've got a knock. if i ease into the throttle it doesn't knock. any chance this could be a bad oil pump (hopefully), or major engine work? :( :(

go on and get the pan off there and see!! You know it's better to find out the bitter truth now than to guess and find out later on the trail.:mad3:

Sounds like a rod bearing is going south with that knock. Idle oil pressure can be between 4.3psi and up to 72psi at 3000 rpms.

yeah, that's kinda what i figured got a hold of the guy i bought it from this morning, and he never changed the oil after having the motor built. 1500 miles on 10-30 and assembly lube.

hey all,
i took this truck to a engine builder i know and he says that because the knock isn't present at idle and only at 2,000 rpm and above and only when the engine rpm levels out it's a wrist pin bushing. does this sound possible? I've never heard of this being a problem in a toyota. Unfortunately, i got layed off yesterday and this is not what i wanted to hear.

anybody out there think this could be it? never heard of a bad wrist pin on a fresh motor before.
