My old roomate had a clarke it worked but the tip wasn't the same thread as the lincoln or miller. but he made it fit. just cross threaded it.??? other than that his wasn't a 220 but everything he did held up.

I don't have that welder But I do have a Clarke It's broken. You can't adjust wire speed. Went out and bought a Hobart 180 you get what you paid for.

I used to have a clarke 220v mig. I liked it quite a bit while it worked. The whip was that spiral ribbed tubing which was nice, but it was too short. It welded really well until the same thing happened. Took it all apart and found a bad wire speed potentiometer, after searching every radio shack in 20 miles I found one to replace it and it worked ever since until it was stolen. Now I have a hobart 180 which is a much nicer machine with parts that can easliy be found in the us...but I personally liked the way the clarke welded much better. We'll see in time though.

I have a Clarke 130EN and it's a very nice machine. As far as replacement parts ClarkeUsa supports all parts for their machines.

The Clarke 130EN and 180EN use Tweco tips and consumables

If you have a Menards store in your area check to see if they have Clarke welders, most do. If you decide to buy a Clarke welder you would not have shipping costs if purchased locally.

I heard the motor was a little weak and most likely would fail with a longer torch (8feet I think).
A few days ago I bought that exact package and can't wait to try it out! I'll post a small review on it. First I'll burn without gas then I'll hook my bottle.

Oh, I've been lurking on this site for over 2 years sorry to come out of the closet sooo late :D

ESAB makes great flux core wire...the best! I have a 220v small Lincoln and it's been great for years. You'll want adjustable wire speed and amps. Get (a name brand!) something that you can easily get parts for locally, you get what you pay for and will be much happier with it. Most good welding shops have demo models and you can try out the machines on the shop floor...that way you can compare how they actually weld. :flipoff2:

HH187 has more power, more voltage tap setting, better built, and will weld better than the Clark and have re-sale value. I'd spend a little more and get the refurb HH187.

If your gonna spend the money, just hold out a lil more and get a hobart. You can find used 130's and 140's pretty often.

yea the whip is kinda short but i have the welder on a cart its never given me any truble, and i can make that welder sing and do excelent work. Built 2 rigs with it and a boat trailer and still runing strong, a chep maches yes but a good one, and i just keep a big bag of tips. Iv herd good about them and some bad but i noticed most of the time the guys who complane about it are also the ones that *think* they can weld :shaking:

Hooked it up on co2 and damn it's soo much nicer than the flux wire it came with....This welder works really good!!! Simple to adjust, burns 35wire with ease.
