Ok so I'm a poor college student who had to use what I already had but it works well (locks up the rear on pavement) so I am satisfied with it. Basically I pulled the rotor, caliper, and backing plate off my old Dana 44 chevy 1/2 ton axle. I mounted the rotor to the inside of the pinion flange facing inward and bolted it together with 4, 1/2 inch by 2 inch long, grade 8 bolts. I cut the top 1/3 section of the backing plate off and mounted it to the cage I built. The cage is made from 2X2X3/16 box tube. I hi-lifted the whole rear end off the ground by the bottom of the cage so I know it's pretty damn strong and is ready for a beating. Here is a link and maybe someone else can post pics here. Just click the pic a couple of times and it will get bigger and bigger.

When are you going to have the rig done? Are you planning on bringing to to naches to play on the funny rocks/moon rocks this summer?

The rig is now finished with the exception of waiting for 1 1/8 left hand nut to bolt the heim joint onto the axle that holds the shackle and spring. I'm going wheelin this weekend. Waiting for the snow to melt off at the Nachez and then I'm going. Hopefully it will melt off soon cause I am moving back to Riverside, California in a few weeks. Anyway I drove it down the road at about 40 today and it rides pretty nice for a trail only vehicle, kinda noisy but I don't really care about that. I like being able to use high range again!

Hey looks good painted man. I think the bracket/shield will hold up fine. The only thing i would suggest to make it better would be some 1/2" triangular gussets on the bottom of the square-wall pipe. They would help keep the pipe attached to the housing if you slam down on it hard. Holding the rig up in the air with a hi-lift is nothing compared to shock loading it by droppping it off a 3-4 foot ledge onto a rock... Other than that, it looks sweeet!

P.S. You love the pinion brake, am i right??

I haven't really noticed brake chatter but I still have to bleed it some cause it takes a couple of pumps to get hard but when it is hard it locks up the rear like nothing. What do you mean mount it to the far side, where should I have mounted it and why would I have break chatter? Thanks Daniel, I wish I had thousands to sink into high dollar parts but school comes first.

Cool, let me know when you are going to run Naches, I'd like to check out your rig & do some wheeling.
