Just finished up my 6.8 SPC today here at work (I'm aloud to bring guns to work :) ) and here she is all prettied up. This my first AR and first gun I've built

CMT Upper
Superior Arms Lower
Stock M4 handgrip
Kotonics 6.8 SPC Barrel
Leapers Scope w/Mil Dots(cheapie till I can afford a small leupold or red dot with magnification piece)

I Duracoated the barrel with Stainless; the gas block, muzzle brake, delta ring and upper receiver with gloss black, and the lower was done with a mixture of stainless with a drop or two of black mixed in to give it a black stainless look

Nice build. How long did it take and how much did it run if you don't mind me asking. I've heard good things about the 6.8SPC and know one guy who hunts deer with it.

That's certainly different. Looks sharp.

It cost me about $650. I got a killer deal on the barrel from KO-Tonics, they were being sold at cost cuz the twist rate was less than ideal for what they wanted so I'll only be able to get like 2500 fps (darn!!:shaking: )It took about 4 months 2 of those months were waiting for my lower recievers. It would have taken about a few hours if I had all parts and cash on hand though

Thanks I saw a billet lower once and fell in love. The Duracoat really tightened up the upper and lower receiver fit. The Superior Arms lowers already have a nice tight fit but now its solid. The only rattling I get is from the cheap $50 stock I bought

It shoots fine now that I've sighted it here are some of my patterns at 25 yds

The groups on this one are from just trying to get the scope to zero

These last ones were shot without using a bench rest

Ooh I forgot to mention I'm still breaking the barrel in :smokin:

You will love the 6.8. You know for the money Bushmasters 3200 elite series with the mil dot in a fixed 10x is a good way to go on these rifles. I have a couple and really like them.

take 1 shot then clean and repeat that step 4 more times

then take 3 shots and clean then repeat that step 4 more times

then take 5 shots and clean then repeat that 4 more times

After that, I"m just gunna take it easy on getting the barrel too hot and not super dirty till I hit 200 shots

For .223 ARs most HP builders recommend shoot 1, clean. Repeat until you are not getting copper fouling. Usually takes ~20 rounds.

Was just curious if you were using one of those kits that have grinding compound embeded in the bullet.

I didn't know that existed. Where would you get one of those?

David Tubb makes them, don't remember the name of his company off the top of my head. I have seen them in Brownells also.
