i have a check engine light on this 93 F150 i just aquired.

I realize on OBD2 vehicles, i could simply go to my nearest auto parts store and have them pull codes....

In the past on hondas prior to OBD2 i could retrieve the codes by either turning the key off and on a few times or by shorting out a connector under the dash with paper clip which would flash the Check Engine Light similar to morse code to give me the code(s).

Is there a way I can pull codes myself on this truck? Or am I forced to visit the Stealership?

Thanks in advance.

Look for a connector under the hood like this:

should be on the fender, most likely on the driver's side,it'll be just hanging on the end of some wires or maybe clipped into a holder mounted on the fender.
You won't need to use a voltmeter, just connect the single wire lead(Self-test input) to the terminal that says "jumper wire" in the diagram and count the flashes of the check engine lamp.

here's a pic of a test connector that plugs into the Ford connector

You don't need the test connector, the pic will help you recognize what you're looking for.
