89 auto tranny choices in the F-250 included the three speed C6 with the 300/302/351w/460, and the four speed E4OD with the 7.3L IDI in the F-250.

Assuming you want a four speed manual, you could always bolt in a T-18 or 19, or NP-435 if the donor truck is a 4x4. Also you would need a matching bell housing to bolt to the tranny and motor.

If you'd like to get a Five speed ZF, find a 88-97 F-2/350. However these trannys have non removable bell housings so the donor truck must have either the 300/351w or 460 or diesel pattern to match up.
