I just recently put a 6 inch fabtech lift on my tacoma as well as a whole 4x4 front end ( it is a prerunner ). Now when I drive it after about 40mph I get a loud humming sound coming from the front. My guess is its the cv axles but why would they be so loud?

Cv angles are pretty steep. Is it possible that the cv's popped out of their sockets while installing everything?

Why are they so steep did the lift kit not drop the diff. down?

They are not crazy steep but steeper than stock. I'm just wondering if it is possible that I do not have my cv's slipped all the way in.

If they are not in all the way I don`t think you could put it back together. You would have noticed it when you went to bolt everything up. It would more than likely be leaking gear oil from the outer seals. Is it leaking?

Nope no leaks anywhere. Tried rotating the tires to see if that was it but the noise is still there.

Jack the front up put a VERY VERY stout set of jack stands on the frame in the front take the wheels off. MAKE SURE ITS VERY STABLE. Disconnect the rear drive shaft from the transfer case. Lock the hubs put it in 4-wheel drive. Then start the truck and put it in drive gas it a little and see if you here the noise. If so You know that its in the front end. If you here a noise get someone to get in the truck and you get out an listen up close. Maybe you can see or here were the noise is comming from.

I would do that but I have yet to find a 4wd tranny and t-case to finish up my 4x4 conversion. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

WHAT?? get it done all hooked up then come back and post. Sound like your jumping the gun. Are you locking the hubs and driving around with no front drive shaft? Do your front and rear gears match?

not sure what size tire youre running i got the same kit and it sits on 37" boggers in the past7-8 months ive had to replace my front wheel bearings about 4 times. i know boggers are lout to begin with but as soon as i replace the bearing the humming changes from a loud foot message to a bogger humm you may what to check that out i usually jack up the truck and grab the tire from the top and bottom if your facing the tire like you were gonna install the tire. grab the top and bottom and move it up and down, meaning towards the engine and towards the diff and you shouldnt have play if you do its the wheel bearings good luck:D
