I always haul out more than I bring in. It usually does not even matter where I am. Shopping Mall, Rubicon, whatever. I was at that meeting too and if everyone just picked up someone elses TP or shit pile we would not be here now. We need to change some massive programming of the masses. It should be pack it in....pack MORE (trash) out.

I agree with you, and this is something that I have thought about alot lately. I feel similarly, I too pick up other peeps crap, I just wish there was a simply solution to the whole matter, but there doesn't seem to be. :(

I'm pleased to brag about my friends in the Pirates who have already shown it (poop) can be packed out and they have done it.
GREAT job to POR.
They also are setting the example, along with many of you, by picking up other folks' trash and cig butts. We all must do it if we want the gov't off our backs.
Friends of the Rubicon (www.friendsoftherubicon.com) is looking into several toilet options with the CA OHV Commission and both Eldorado and Placer county. If we don't come up with solutions, this issue could get our trail closed.
35,000 people used the trail in one 3 month period last summer and generated 70,000 pounds of poop. OUCH. It HAS to be dealth with and not left on the trail.
I'll post some of the ideas in another post.

Toilet options being looked at include:
composting '
dehydrating
leech fields (not likely -- too much granite)
lime type
propane fired incenerators
waterless
unimog pumping tank service truck (Dana Holland)
and regular porta potties on the Loon side.
and some more I probably forgot.

What method are the Pirates using to pack the poop?
Also, I am going to start carrying a sack on the back of my rig for picking up trash. I'm not down with OPP (Other peoples poop) but I'm all over trash.

I usually put it in a ziploc freezer bag, and put that in someone elses garbage sack :D
we need to educate the people that go up there but are not a part of our community. you know the guy that has a 4x but isnt really involved. I am disgusted by people that go to a beautiful, breathtaking area and decide to leave their trash there.
EVERY run is a CLEANUP run.
I thought about making flyers and handding them out but those would jet be blown all over the trail. I hate to say (cus i hate signs) it but a "NO DUMPING/LITTERING" sign is required cus some folk just have no common sense. violators subject to lynching.

Whenever I hike or wheel I am always amazed at how beer cans/bottles seem to be SO much heavier empty than full. I always bring more out than in

The sad reality is, our IMAGE (the stuff we leave behind and the way we behave) is our biggest battle. It only takes a few mis-behavers to tarnish our whole sport.
