I'm asking this question for a friend. He has an Chevy 88 2wd 1500 p/u. He is having an intermittent starting problem. The deal is it only happens when the truck has been running (normal op temp). Sometimes (like after getting gas) when he goes to start it again....nothing. The starter and connections are fine. It seems to me that "something" is getting hot and then not working. I've never owned one of these trucks and was hoping that someone may have some insight. Thanks for any help Chevy guys!

Starter solenoid more than likely is on its last leg. These are notorious for going out on chevys because of there location close to the exhaust.:skull:

If he has headers and if the solenoid is the issue he might want to get a remote solenoid kit... or wrap the thing in some sort of heat shield... the heat sooner or later will get to it again....

I've seen cables do the same thing, although as stated , probably the starter ( heat soak )
