Anyone out there ever welded the front in a Track/kick? I'm thinking about doing it and then the 2low mod on the transfercase. I know the aluminum diff is a concern but I don't plan on hammering it.

Over the weekend we had a guy in our group at the Spring Zuwharrie blow out an aluminum front diff in an almost stock 4-door. He was driving up on a rock and wasn't even hammering on it. He is open in the front and it still busted into pieces showering the undercairrage with gear oil. The good news is the diff's are easy to swap out.

if you think you can make it out of the trail in 2wd then go for it.

my dad would twist the mounts off the diff with it open, he is a very graceful driver. the truck was on 31" tires with a 4:1 low range...... good luck :smokin:

Get a steel Vitara housing and start there, but you'll still be wasting your time welding the gears in an aluminum housing. read weak.

Anyway, yes...i grenaded a stock front housing with little to NO effort.

Yeah A friend of mine is running a welded front and steering for one is really hard, constantly getting out and unlocking one hub. He is also constantly breaking CV's and has now also broken a internal axle aswell. But when it is working it goes pretty much everywhere.

simple answer.....welded front sucks and is lame
get a locker, with the locker i can barly rest my foot on the gas and the locker wont engauge and will click and slip alowing me to take the corner (as well as possible with welded rear) and then i push the gas and bang all four are locked and ready to get nasty
