: Danger!!! Power tools

A buddy of mine was working on his rig last week, trying to get it ready for Memorial Day. He was pulling an all-nighter, and was running on chips and Mnt. Dew. He was rushing to get it done, and had been up for at least 24+ hours straight.

At some point he blanked out and got his hair caught in a grinder. It took out a bunch of hair and whacked him on the head hard. I showed up about an hour later, and he was still pretty loopy. He was working hard and was possibly dehydrated from drinking so much soda. He is okay now, but this definitely ruined his weekend, but fortunately not his life.

Here is a pic of just the hair that got pulled from the grinder motor, and he lost more than that.

Summer is coming, and I just wanted to put out this as a reminder to be careful. Take a break if you are tired, or a quick nap if you get drowsy. Eat a decent meal and drink plenty of water when it is hot. You really don't want this to happen to you. Power tools can be dangerous and accidents happen pretty quickly if you lose your concentration.

No flames please, and he knows he messed up. Just don't let this happen to you. It only takes one slip.

OUCH!!!

Reminds me of something that happened to me about a month ago...

I was at my dads shop using HIS grinder. I forgot that he doesnt have a guard on his and I ground my index finger about 1 1/2 inches long. through every layer of skin. I didnt go to the hospital, but I was wanting a bandaid quick. But only to protect it from grease, ect.. :D

Didnt feel to good. I did cuss my dad out a little for not having a guard. I guess it didnt work because he still doesnt have a guard. But I have a nice scar. :skull:

none of my grinders have the guards on them. it's either the first
thing I remove when I buy them, or it's the first thing tossed into
the trash after I open the box.

they get in the way............... treat it right, and don't be a knucklehead.

One thing I learned a while back is pay attention to where your ponytail is when you're under a vehicle on a creeper.
Running over your hair is bad enough bit getting it tangled in the wheel AND being by yourself with only about 3" from your nose to the floorpan of your wife's car really sucks!:D
