I want to lose my two piece d-shaft but I cant really afford to get a good one from high angle right now so I was wondering if any of you guys could help. I did a search and couldnt find $hit. I had heard that some people are running chevy d-shafts underneeth. Does this work? What would I need to do to get rid of my carrier? I have shredded it for the last time! Thanks guys.
My '84 Extra cab had the two piece driveshaft when I got it. I took the one piece off of my '86 Longbed and swapped them around. They were within 1/2" in lenght of each other.
I dealt with that for a while and then had Jesse build me a C/V rear shaft.

If your current rear shaft is in OK shape, its common to take it and have it lengthened. Depending on the way the stock driveshaft is built, you can either do 2 u-joints or a CV on top. Whichever is done, you may need to correct the pinion angle:

Usually a larger diameter tube is used for the longer shaft.

Chad-how did that long bed shaft work for you? Were there any problems when you went wheeling/road driving?
4CrawlR-It I got my drive shaft lengthend, would I still have to use my carrier bearing or can it get lengthened long enough to bypass it?
Thanks again guys.

I have a 84 long bed. I just put a one piece shaft from a 86 extra cab in it. It was about a 1/4 inch too long, but i also had extended shackles which pushes the axle forward. To get it to fit I had to move the alxe back an 1" ( did a ubolt flip while i was at it)
The 2 piece was 54" flange to flange and the one piece was also 54", but the 2 piece is angled where the bearing is.
