ok so a cheap stretch for the rear is reversed rear xj springs. but has anyone ever put rear xj springs on the front mounted forward? on paper this should stretch the front right? has anyone ever tried this?

There was a thread on this very subject just in the last couple of weeks. Look for a thread by Tombraider, he did this on his yj.

Or you could get waggy front springs which are the same length as the YJ springs, but the center pin is offset 2 inches. Less work to put these springs in

Yes, it can be done. Takes some work tho. Gotta either move your steering box forward, or use a reverse motion steering box like a scout or astro van box. I used the astro box. XJ's front rear= 108" wheelbase.
