Subject: Rubicon Meeting with Eldorado Co.


We'll be sending out a full report of last night's meeting with Eldorado Co. about the future of the Rubicon, but let me just say for now, IT WAS A GREAT meeting.
No one spoke against the trail -- as in, no one said close it. Everyone there wants the trail left open. Of course, there was a lot of talk about things we can do to fix the trail, minimize the resource damage, do some erosion control, find a solution to the toilet/sanitation issues, and keep the trail available to us forever.

I was so pleased that so many FOTR folks were able to get away from home and lived close enough to attend this meeting in Placerville, CA. It was a wonderful turnout. We all had our FOTR t shirts on too. COOL.

Very positive meeting. Jack Sweeney was our MC and Supervisor Penny Humphreys was our Board host. The Rubicon is in her district. Again, no one spoke about closing the trail. Everyone spoke about ways to keep it open and that they WANT it left open. WONDERFUL>
