I was wondering if anybody knows how to pull the shift lever out of the NP 435? I need to get a new seal in there and retaining spring but can't get the lever out. There are two side pins that I think are holding it in but I can't get those out. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks. Oh yeah is there any way to make sure that you have the shift forks lined up right? I can't see when I put the cover back on but I think they are in. I can shift into all the gears so I'm thinking they are in right.
Thanks for the help

The stamped steel cap is pushed down and then while being held down twist counter-clockwide. this is best done with a pair of Channel-locs. I would put the tranny into nuetral and then remove the handle. you can install the handle and shift the tranny without fully installing the retaining ring, this will allow you to make sure it is in right before fighting the ring.

good luck,

Eric
