I am looking for any ideas or pictures of how someone has trimmed the rear fenders (85 4 Runner) and fixed up the inner fender well. I have searched and found pics frm the outside but nothing that shows a good way to keep the weather out. Ideas?

cut mine today and it seems that you couldcut carefully and leave enough of the inner fender to bend in and weld up, though i ain't concerned: no tailgate, no windshield-NO PROBLEM:d:d sorry, this probably isn't much help. Good luck.

I kind of eyeballed something of the sorts, I guess I'll give it a try. It couldnt be much worse than the rusted out holes right now;)

pm a guy called CAZ. He did it to his runner and has a few pics on his web page. Or try a search. Somebody else asked this exact question a couple months ago, and I think a link was posted.

Andrew Hulse aka DesertSpeed put new wheel wells in his which would have many of the same issues.

Here is a link to where he cut his fenders and did new wheel wells:

after i cut the rear fenders of my 'runner I was talking to a guy at a body shop and was told that there are bonding materials and adhesives that could be applied inside that would bond the metal back together and keep the weather out, and are very strong. I haven't done it yet, but I plan to follow up on this more because I don't feel like painting over burn marks in the sheetmetal.... Hope this helps:cool:
