Still trying to break the caddy engine loose.
I always wondered why the 345 in my Scout would never idle smooth as the 392 in my 1100. I replaced the coil with a Petronics and it idles smoother. Could be better, so I may swap distributors just for shits and giggles.
Removed the STC Fast trac top from hell. Cleaned the scout, applied Rain-x to all the glass and chrome trim.
Doors stay on for now until the spring rainy season ends.
Scout is starting to wander, and the power steering is becoming much too easy to steer. I have pinky steering. It's getting annoying.
I've decided on 56" springs for my 1100 and I've been e-mailing Curt from DIY4x4 to make me a custom engine crossmember.
That is finally all :)

Did a carb rebuild on a chainsaw, worked on 3 nitro powered rc cars, swapped tcases in my ZJ again, new pad on the front of the ZJ, went to a movie (Invisible, total chick flick, I got suckered.) went to a bonfire/wedding reception. Got a little motorcycle time cahsing parts. That's about it.
Talked to
Shawn from GLO, he is going to call me monday with an estimate. As soon as I get those parts I'm back to work on the scout.

Went to Hot Springs for the first time friday and saturday. Had a blast. First trip out with the new one link front and rear. Still have a few bugs to work out but overall real happy.

Put the rear back SUA, determined all my problems were with the driveshaft, and got the money together to order a new CV shaft. Ordering it tomorrow.
Non-IH: Baseball games both mornings, prom friday night (yeah, i'm young:flipoff2: ), car show/swap meet wandered for a couple hours on Sat. about it, but it was WAY busier than it sounds. Damn I need sleep:rolleyes:

My first Scout saw more wheelin' this weekend than it has in the 11 years I've owned it..

That was a fun tow - no engine/trans in it, and the back is FULL of spare cylinder heads, intakes, broken Dana 20s, etc. When we tore down the old shop to build the 30x30 concrete bunker I had to find a place to store everything.. so into the Scout they went.. but talk about no tongue weight. That's the third time the tail's tried to wag the dog with my Travelette (the other was towing the C&C Chevy home, and the third was going through the canyon with no shocks on the trail rig on the trailer)
Mom's putting in a new fence, so it was time to finish moving the big stuff to my place.
Which somehow also included moving HER Scout ot my place..
http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/32357-1/04_29_07_1628.jpg
Good news is, her Scout runs. I'd only driven it around the block once before. It didn't have a permanent carb (but thanks to some changes on my fleet, I had a few free up), but it does now. Put a battery in it, primed the carb, filled the tires, fired it up, and drove it out and onto the trailer.
Still doesn't have 3rd, and still doesn't go backwards. It also needs a tune up.. I put a light on it to check time (~10BTDC) and had a hard time getting a consistent signal.
Also suspect a welsh plug in the passenger head front is bad - leaking coolant.
But it runs.
Also noticed for the first time that is has a D44 disc front end and some pieces of an A/C system remain.. it's a 304/727 setup, but was originally a stick.
Drug my old '76 Chevy Luv home, too. It let me down - I thought for sure it'd drive on the trailer, but the inlet needle on the carb is stuck (or something similar - got fuel to the carb). It got the winch.
The CostCo 2,000lbs Champion trailer winch worked awesome. The '72 has a lot of weight in the back, and it all-but pulled it up onto the trailer single-line. Only when the rear tires were about to break over the ramps did it run out of poop. Double lined it, and it was fine.

Michelle's already asked, "Uh.. I'm not really digging the line of cars in the field.. maybe we could get rid of a some?"
It never seemed like that much until I got it all together in one spot. There's a lot missing in that picture. :)
To that end, I'm going to post some classifieds again and see if anyone wants any of this junk.. can't save it all. *sigh*

Its one of those 'quick and dirty' jobs. I'm re-using the factory hoop and slugged the down bar near the dash with 1 1/4" Hope to have it done by tuesday. Customer wanted it done this way and is well aware of my displeasure in doing it. I have 'yard duty' around the house monday:barf:

Didn't work on the Scout or any of the stuff going into the build... but I did place a rather heafty order with BTF for some stuff for the 14b and the D60F. Need to get on the phone to GLO for a couple diff covers... that will be the last piece for the 14b.
EDIT: Just ordered up the diff covers from GLO... check one more item off the list for each axle.

Sat: Drove back from Jeff City, MO. Finally finished all the schooling I needed to keep my rank. Good school though.
Sun: Drove back up to Phillipsburg to mow the lawn, and spend time with the kid. Did start the T-all up to let it run a bit. Tried to start the Scout but a dead battery hindered that movement.
Today: Drove back down to Manhattan, listened to my buddy Stacy bitch about the Craftsman Truck Race. But other then that nothing real exciting.

Replaced water pump today (Monday), on DD, on way from Dallas to Wichita Falls. That was fun. Thankfully the doctor, who I bought it from, his wife was passing by and recognized the Scout II on the side of the road. Gave me a ride to the school she works at. Used the Internet to find new water pump. Son picks it up, then daughter in law brings it to me. I replace it in AG building that I've been able to move the Scout to.
Bad luck followed by good luck.
Get a wave from a cute girl in the Albertson's parking lot. I'm thinking my luck is improving (wife probably doesn't think so.)

Finally finished all the schooling I needed to keep my rank. Good school though.
I still need to do the same thing, but every time I get a class date I end up getting deployed. So now I'm a little hesitant to jump through hoops to go to school. :shaking:
No Scout progress here, got the DD all ready for it's 3000 mile round trip to Jamaica. :D Did some Honey-do crap around the house and enjoyed the weather all weekend.

thanks again Dan, they're MUCH nicer than the stock crap. Feels like a whole new window mechanism. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow.

not too much, tinkered on the trailer a bit and messed with my roll cage. The more I do the trailer the more I think I might just keep it :)

I have no idea, it's not a trailer axle though - it's just some old axle. It's a rig I parted out and have been trying to sell the rest of but figured I might as well use it or atleast have a better chance of selling it as a trailer.

God dam burn out is a bitch :flipoff2:
Pulled the drive train out the "donner" Scout. It's a 304 vs the 345 I had.
Does the Stock Scout look slammed compared to my junk
Found this 5.3 vortec that might be a cool swap. Sticking with an IH motor for now. Also got a lead on a 392 that I will check out this weekend

I don't even have time to look at my rig. Been working on this for about a month. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469903/ Its in total chaos, was budgeted for 55mil, and the way its going it will cost twice that much. Honchos from Universal came out to do an audit which means they may pull the plug, or at the least spank the big spenders. The commute is around 3 hrs per day plus 14 to 16 on the clock.

I've just finished, today, a piddy little project I started after christmas. Installed some speaker pods and rear cage/hi-lift mount, gas tank/tool box. Finally got some tunes.
The eight year Scout bug has been taken care of for a little while with the Mustang GT bug. Seems a little more viscious than the Jeep bug. Just ordered $1,200.00 in Mustang parts....it used to take a lot longer to spend that on the Scout....Mustang took only one phone call.
