Found this truck for sale and wanted opinions on if it is a good deal or not. It runs and drives pretty well. Looks like shit but that does not matter. Guys says mechanically it's cool and I saw no leaks. No registration and he says it wont pass smog.

$600 (asking)

?????

The only question i would have is why no reg.? Other than that it looks like a great deal!!

Now if only i could find a truck with EFI (running or not, with or with out reg.) for $600.00 that would be a steal!! :D

Why do you ask? What are you getting at? I'm not trying to sound like a dick just wanting to know.

Thanks, Phil:p :usa:

Usually no Reg. would mean that the truck might be stolen, but then if you are turning it into a buggy or trailer rig than it wouldn't really matter. I would ask the owner why he doesn't have the Reg. It is not that hard to get a new one from the DMV. I know if i was buying this truck i would pull the vin from the door and get a report from car fax. I know it is only $600.00 but i hate giving $$$ away!! :D

Funny you should mention getting the vin # off the door because they dont open.:D Nothing looks messed up but they both just don't open.

Talk him down to $400 - part it out for more than double that.

Offer him $550.00, I bet he'd take it.

As long as you can verify it's not stolen...buy it! Could be a good non-street-legal trail toy or could use parts to do an SAS to an IFS, or dual cases...tranny is nothing to shout about, though. The '79-'83 models have a pretty short transmission casing which gives you a short front driveshaft--will bind U-joint if lifted too much without some kind of correction. Those trannys aren't all that durable, either.

It has to have at least a “Green Sticker” to run in the forest and that requires a “Pink Slip” or at the least a "Bill of Sale":D

Would I be able to swap in a later model tranny down the road?
