: Engine fuse

Not the high amp ones in the engine compartment, I am talking about the 15 amp one in the fusebox at the drivers feet. It gives power to the left side of the intrument cluster on my 84, the gas guage voltmeter charge and brake light and most importantly the turn signal switch. I keep blowing this fuse and I cannot figure out why. Cannot get inspected without the turn signals and I way overdue. Nothing wrong with the lights themselves as they work fine when turning on the hazards. This is probably either behind the fuse box behind the guage cluster or in the column somewhere, all place that are a real PITA. I have looked everywhere just short of ripping out the entire dash looking for the problem. Anyone have suggestions before I do this? Please!!

When my truck did that, it turned out to be the previous owners shoddy alarm install that was the culprit. Since I drowned the alarm brain (I had a snorkel for a reason) I just ripped it and all of its wiring out.

So even though you may not have an alarm, it's probably a wire shorting out somewhere under the dash or something...

I know this is an old post, however I am experienceing the same problem, and have found through some research thatthe blowing of engine fuses is generaly a pre-cursor to a bad alt. What part of the alt.. ie brushes... volt reg.. not sure but I am replacing mine this weekend and will post more next week.
