I'm on the rebuild mode and trying to get out of the nose-bleed section on my 4runner/soon to be truggy keeping the 37's. So Currently I have Allpros 5" (old) and just ordered the 3"ers for the front to replace them. I'm also moving everything as far forward as possible... I figured that the F-toys are the proving grounds for this low of a spring...
I'm looking for tricks that work! bump stop locations and what not... Geiger was kind enough to not reply to my PM, So I thought I'd ask here.
It's a P/T DD, and I'm using Allpros Front axle conversion, if that makes a difference. Was also thinking about inboarding them an inch or two, but haven't looked into that too much yet...
Once the front's set I'm going 4 link in the rear. Just need to get it to ride height before I Axe the back.....
Thanks for the help!

If the 3in. springs are anything like the 5in. When they break in they are great I cant say about a full bodied rig but our fronts work awesome with the very bottom leaf out

Do the 3" settle much after they get broken in? what about with the bottom leaf removed?

My 5's worked good, And they are coming no matter what. But I was wondering if you guys had some tricks like limiting the up travel and forcing the down on the opposing side. things like that. Same with shackle numbers and locations. I'm setup now like the cookie cutter rigs of yor :)
I'm also going to try to run the Allpro pitman arm that came with the x-over kit, but I have a feeling that it will be too much of a drop for these.
And it's going on a good diet, but it'll be heaver then a Ftoy for sure... Hell, I cut off about 5 lbs worth of crap in the first 12" of the frame alone. It's a slow process but it's a front to back overhaul/redesign. Figuring I could shave 2" with the spring change and 3" BL that would get me to a respectable height for a while....

I was super impressed with the 5" springs I used on a SAS, I would expect nothing less from the 3" springs

Everyone I know that uses 3" springs has some issues with pittman arm contact with the spring on full stuff. I have mine set for as much up travel as is possible. The spring does touch the pittman arm slightly when fully stuffed. Use care when placing your steering box. I've notched the frame slightly to allow as high of placement of the pittman arm as possible.
FWIW-My brother had AP 3" springs up front which I believe are a little softer than TG 3"ers and 4 link in the rear. 1 ride and he took the front leafs off and went 4 link in the front. Just not enough flex in the front compared to the rear. Maybe keep that in mind when designing your rear.

That's kinda what I was looking at today. I'm moving the box anyway, just wanted to not have to move it again.

And Yep!!! I plan to go with links up front, but the budget wont allow it for some time... I've also been thinking more about moving the springs in closer buy 3-4"... I've got the room. Axle needs work too... And I'm less then impressed with the old Allpro shackle tubes I put in last time. So they are coming out anyway....
Humm, must ponder it some more...
Thanks guys!

We didnt limit anything on the springs up or down. The pitman arm does hit the spring when stuffed (thats being handled now) as far as the bottom leaf it only drops the car a 1/2 in or so. For shackles we went with budbuilt boomarang I think they were 4in. with the shackle tube in the stock location

FYI I use a stock IFS box location and a Sky 3/4 drop arm with 3inch springs. Everything clears fine I just had to grind the end of the TRE off up top by the frame cause it would have hit. Before I was using a stock inserted arm and it was basicly a bumpstop:shaking:

The steering is getting moved up and forward. The pitman arm would hit the spring and bend the the spring retainer
