: Slow Battery Drain

92 XJ, 4.0, red top, dodge 2500 big amp alternator. Has a slow battery drain. If I run it everyday, it generally starts. Skip one day, and it is flat dead. I pulled the neg cable and put a test light in series and started pulling fuses looking to isolate the bad circuit. The light goes out when I pulled the underhood fuse which IDs as the circuit feeding the in cab fuse block. I pulled every fuse in the in cab block with no effect.

I cannot get the harness plugs off the back of the in cab fuse block to determine if it is the block itself or the harness. The clip attachement seems glued on and there is no room to get my big manly hands in there without removing the brake booster and a bunch of other stuff.

Is there something that feeds off the in cab fuse block that does not go through a fuse? What else can I check before I start gutting my truck and getting nasty with the stuck plug?

Man, I thought for sure I'd get flamed for this question. Guess I'm not the only one stumped by it.

Anyone?

I've solved this problem by replacing the ignition switch on my 92.

I had the same problem, Mine was the Distribution block (for lack of better words, i cant think of its name, but it has a direct lead to the battery. All of your battery fed components plug or attactch to it. it has one stud with 5-6 wires attached to it and 4-5 plugs on it) Sorry im having a brain fart and cant think of what its called. On my 89 its located on the pass side fender well between the battery and the relay cluster. The stud that the battery was connected to was broken internally and would constantly drain my battery. $20 part at the dealer. Hope this helps.
