Ok I have to bring it up again, does anyone have any info on how I bypass the (N) safety switch feature? I looked in the manual and there are 3 wires that come out of the shift linkage on the tranny, I followed those wires to the engine bay where I disconnected them to pull the tranny out, now what it looks like in the manual is that "B & N" wires need to be jumpered to make the truck think it's in (P) or (N) in order for it to start, so what I did was cut those 2 wires and wire them directly together.....NO LUCK. Could anyone help me out here?
Thanks,

P.S. *(1985 22RE std cab longbed p/u straight axle)* I swapped the stock A340H auto tranny for an R151F turbo 5 speed and now I'm stuck with this (N) switch problem....

It's been awhile, but IIRC, you jumper the two thick black wires in the neutral safety switch connector together and it should start. The switch interrupts the continuity of this black wire and you just need to bypass it. Hope this helps, good luck! :D

BTW, I believe the third wire in the connector is the reverse lights.

The connector that I am using as my (N) safe switch does not have big black wires, now there is a larger "round" connector that does but I was under the impression that was something different, of course the manual shows you a "drawn" connector and not an actual picture *(go figure huh)* Now the connector with the big black wires is about the size of a half dollar in diameter, does that sound right? The connector I thought was the (N) safe wires is more of a triangle shape, does any of this make sense? Hope you can help me out....

The other wires are probably 4WD indicator and other assorted BS. Look on your schematic for the wire that goes to the starter solenoid. It should run to the neutral safety switch, more than likely it is the black wires I referred to earlier. You need to find the wire that is the path from the ignition switch to the starter, with the safety switch somewhere in between. I would give the black wires a shot. :D

your welcome. to hook up your back up lights run power to your reverse switch on the trans then back out to that red wire.use a key on power source and a fuse .go to a yard and get the other half of the plug with a few inches of wire makes it alot cleaner job
