i am just wondering what people are running for rear springs in a s10? i will be running tj coils in the front and aiming for about 10" of lift. i was thinking maybe thinned down 56" chevy's but i think they may be too stiff. i have heard that zr2 springs also, and i have see how flexy they are. is there any cheap spring that may get me close?

Spring over axle with a long shackle maybe a block... or ZR2 springs with less of a shackle and no blocks....

i should have stated, i will already be spring over, running a van 14ff. the shackle will be a "tuning" method, not how i get lift. i will not run blocks. but my s10 spring is somewhere around 55" (its 54" eye to eye in the truck right now) and with a centered pin. i am wondering what springs are around 54-57" range with maybe an offset pin, that are soft but with some arch. i have some 53" fords laying around, and i was toying with the idea of a double shackle. but i do want to keep this thing as low as i can reasonable keep it. the other two s10's (sfa) i have seen are close to about 14" of lift. that is too extreme in mind.

also, my s10 springs are 2.5" wide and my fords are 3". i want to keep the factory front mount if i can, but if not then oh well.

the ZR2 leafs flex really well, but they are too soft. I went through 2 sets before I went with Alcans. I think the ZR2 replacements were about $180 when I bought the 2nd set (the first set came with the truck :D )

I bent 2 sets due to axle wrap with the stock 4.3 and 37s

I loved the way they worked, but just wouldn't last long.

I have ZJ coils in the front of mine and now have the Alcans in the rear. they don't flex as well as I would like, but it was my fault for having them built a little too stiff.

well, i probably wont have axle wrap, or at least i can nip it in the bud when i see it. where can zr2 springs be found, other than JY or CL.

also, if you put them in a stock s10, how much "lift" would they net?

I would have to guess, with SOA, it would be about 5". when guys do the BDS ifs lift, it's a 5" lift and the rear is just SOA.

you might find a set on our site, zr2usa.com

fair amount doing SFA and others like myself that did the rear as well. the replacement set I bought was from a spring shop. they were direct replacements and ran about $180 brand new

i guess i was asking what the difference was in the spring, not SOA

I think the difference (don't hold me to it) might be 2"

I think the mounting points might be slightly different for the zr2 vs reg s10 (frame hanger) as well.

have a look at Dodge Durango rear springs. just do a walkby in a mall parking lot, and have a look.

you might be surprised at the amount of arch... and length.

i have noticed that actually. i have been thinking that for years now, i've just been too lazy to actually take a tape to one, because i dont know anybody with one. i dont want some soccer mom coming out of walmart, wondering what the hell i am doing to her SUV. with my luck, she would probably think i was trying to plant a bomb or something.
