: where to buy blocks?
smilingwithrage 05-05-2007, 05:37 AM just wondering if anyone knew a good place to purchase 5 inch rear blocks....the lift i have now only has 3 inch blocks and the rear sags about an inch and a half but im having a hard time finding a place to order the blocks from
Home Built 05-05-2007, 08:53 AM Buy new springs and do it right. That's alot of block...
Or you could buy a couple of add-a-leaves and put them in to give you the inch or so that you lost..
smilingwithrage 05-05-2007, 09:56 AM well i dont have springs in the rear and i already have ad leaf so really the option i have is to increase the blocks size an inch or so
tsmall07 05-05-2007, 12:44 PM I'm pretty sure you have to have springs in the rear....
5 inch lift blocks are dangerous and stupid.

everyone is talking leaf springs. not coil springs. replace the rear leaf springs you have with leaf springs with the proper lift. dont keep adding shit to a pile of shit. get rid of the shit and do it right.
Donahue 05-05-2007, 11:36 PM i agree with taking out the blocks. perhaps a shackle flip is in order if it is a full size (assuming it is a tension shackle now). and dont forget about zero rates.
usmcdoc14 05-06-2007, 08:26 AM what vehicle is it? depending on what it is you could either drop the spring mounts or do a shackle flip and easily get 4-5 inches of lift and loose the blocks outright
Cheepin 05-06-2007, 11:24 AM I love how people ask questions and don't bother to give any info!I guess we all have ESP!!Buy some new springs.Adding bigger blocks will just kill your already sagging leaves.

habitatxskate 05-06-2007, 03:46 PM if your committed to blocks ntwonline.com has some fair prices.
smilingwithrage 05-06-2007, 04:08 PM thanks habit....and what exactly are you rolling your eyes at tsmall
Urban Wheeler 05-06-2007, 04:25 PM I'd tell you what he is rolling his eyes at, but this is the newbie forum wher we are all supposd to be nice to each other.

so do we give truthful advice or newb friendly section advice??? I'll do both...
Newb friendly advice: I bet that thing kicks ass! are you running 44"s or bigger... if so that rawks!
TRUTH: Bigger/TALLER isn't always better Blocks and Body lifts are dangerous.
If you want to do it right adjust the suspension enough to clear tires and no more. Blocks to leaf springs is the same as putting a 4 foot cheater bar on a 3/8" ratchet. You might get away with it for a while but eventually its going to torque something the wrong way and break.

Body lifts are for posers (all they do is help you break stuff easier by putting tires on a suspension that isn't designed for big tires) and coil spacers are idiotic. Do a real lift with no blocks or spacers and you might have something worth driving.
I'm not a flamer either. I'm just trying to help you out bud.

i am not disagreeing with you that much, but both body lifts and coil spacers have their place. i could see using a 1" or 2" BL for t-case clocking purposes, or for exhaust clearance. i do not think that using a BL simply for looks or to clear larger tires is the best route. and coil spacers, i dont see much of a difference in those than lift blocks. i will say however, that it is a very similar method to just lowering coil buckets, which is a common practice. and while both lower the spring, coil spacers allow you to take the truck back to stock if need be more readily than lowering the buckets. with all that said, i still agree that these are probably not the best choices for the above vehicle.
habitatxskate 05-07-2007, 10:56 AM i'll admit it, i have 5" blocks and a 1" add a leaf..do i trust it? kind of..would i suggest a 6" spring? yeah but I know money to spare on a truck isn't that great.

You'll learn...........
Blocks that tall act like a big lever thats used to break stuff with.
Body lifts are not all created equal......
rf_blazer 05-07-2007, 01:41 PM Not to jack the thread, but how bad are coil spring spacers, like just 2"?
^^Prepares for some flaming

Whats more important is how are the angles after the 2" spacer?
rf_blazer 05-07-2007, 03:40 PM straight on to front axle arms (2wd) to frame is perpendicular to the springs
rf_blazer 05-07-2007, 03:46 PM I bought 6" lift springs, then realized I wanted another inch or two...
Only reason
