the shifter on my 465 is really sloppy. Is there any cheap way to tighten it up at all? I can live with it the way it is but if I can make it better why not right? :D

better then my problem - mine pops out of 3rd! Good luck dude!

When I had my SM465 the two pins that hold the shifter in on both sides of the tower would back out and the handle would get sloppy. I took a big punch and a sledge and drove them in further and staked them in place. Also there is a small pin that holds the very tip of the shifter on, pull the shifter out of the tranny and make sure that pin has not sheared off.

As for it jumping out of third, pull the top of the case off and check for the proper operation of the detent balls.
