I have $2000 dollars can I get a front 60, and a rear 14 bolt, hummer wheels, and a Dana 300 T-case, and drive shafts in my YJ? I figure If I find a front 60 for a grand or so buy a lockright , and weld the rear 14 bolt up, and hopefully find matching gears in both axles, and then get a good Dana 300 and, then hummer wheels are like $400. So what do you guys think, Ill be doing all the labor myslef of course, can it be done for around $2000? :skull:

Oh I plan on doing cheap ass full HYDRO steer also so that leaves off steering on the Dana 60. and I can get a rear 14 bolt complete for $120, and I figure I would just turn the brakes on both axles.:rasta:

Your numbers make it $1520 already without even guessing/suggesting a price on some items. So, if you add roughly $375 for a 35 spline D60 lockrite, $80 for good junkyard shafts matching your axles and you cut them down (plus you'll have to match the case yokes so may be more $$). Not sure on the 300, maybe $100? Hydro steer is maybe another $400 minimum for full hydro, if you can find the stuff (ram, charlyn, wheel) in a equipment junkyard, then you'll need lines made up for it so that's more $$$. Don't forget all the brackets and stuff that will need to be made, gaskets, seals, and oil bought, etc. Assuming optimistic numbers (along with a few wild guesses) and you have this.
$1000 Dana 60
$120 Corp 14 FF
$400 Hummer wheels
$375 Lockrite
$80 Shafts
$100 Dana 300
$300 Hydro steer
Total: $2375.00
And these numbers are very optimistic with no buffer for, "Oh shit, the king pins are shot and so are the hub bearings, plus I need ..." (and that stuff ALWAYS happens to some extent). I would budget a minimum of $3000 for what you want to do, and it will cost more than that if you can't get lucky with most of it in a junkyard. Before even thinking seriously about starting a project like this, I would gather better numbers and realistic options from your local sources.

It can be done, but it takes time and luck.
Here is what I have spent so far.
60 front- $200
60 rear- swapped junk for junk $0
6.17 r&p for front and rear- $220
Detroit for front- $520
1 install kit- $110
That gets me to $1050 so far, still have minor parts to buy for install, but I will still be way under $2000. And If you count the money from selling my existing axles and tires, I will be under $2000 after purchasing new wheels and 42"tsl's.

It'll Take time and lots of luck to do that. If you're figuring on finding a 60 that'll bolt in you need the elusive '79 F350 (I got one :D ) and those almost always need rebuilt:(
I was optimistic like you, I ended up at about $3500 for a HP60/14Bolt Detroited, geared, and rebuilt.

If you've got no time limit and want to wait for deals, I bet you could easily come in under that $2000-$2300 price.
