: spring perch studs, what grade bolts to use instead??

this is on a SOA YJ with a dodge D44 HD and d60 rear. Once i got the waggy springs and shims on the stock studs coming out of the passenger side spring perch were to short. A friend of mine just replaced his with some grade 8 bolts but i think that the studs that came stock are a higher grade than that. would some grade 8's at 3 inches long with 1 1/4 inches of thread contact in the housing be strong enough, or should i track down something stronger? i searched and found how on chevys some people grind and drill into the cast part to fit a u bolt but i can't see that working on my dodge one, i think the diff cover is to close.
any ideas are appreciated
thanks

Seems to me I see an awful lot of those studs break on the trail...
