I just fitted a Dodge Dana 70 with disk brakes (GLO makes a great product)and in the process of hastily putting it back together, came up with some questions I think need resolved before buttoning up the project.

1. What is the preload on the wheel bearings?

2. When do I need to set-up the gears again? I have pulled the open differential, welded it, changed the bearings, etc. Do I need to set-up the gears. I have been in to a dana 60 and dana 80 and have not reset the gears, but I don't know if that is a mistake or not.

3. How much resistance should I get from the Pinion beaging. I placed the center chunk back into the housing to check fit, spun it and could hear and feel the pinion bearing. Shoud I replace it or pack it with grease the best I can and call it good. I imagine if I pull the pinion bearing that I will need to set-up the gears again.

4. How much resistance should I feel from new disk brake pads on new rotors?

Thank you.

1. Very tight

2. Don't worry about it. Just make sure it fits.

3. Just repack the pinion bearing and run it.

4. A lot.

That should about do it.

If you went in and changed the bearings, you need to set up the gears again.
