As we go further with the ftoys, and talk with more folks running/building, and building our own... we've run into a few things that can/should be done a little different on an ftoy. The latest being the Twin-Stick we built for ours.

From our build-up thread (and tear down of our old 85)

thats pretty slick.

With the flat belly (t case up higher) those really stick up high.

When I cut mine, I left the 2wd/4wd one longer, making easier to grab, since that one gets used alot more.

I have your twinsticks in mine, I just bent mine over at about 3" up so they got out of the way.

Try applying pressure to the levers while you are still rolling. also, bounce on/off the throttle a little as well, while applying pressure. You should find that you will relieve the drivetrain enough to pop out of 4wd. Also, turn your front ARB off, of both if you can.
