We have some new samples of parts that are more slim line - And we expect them to handle 40 degree's - The u joints are expensive 220$ each- The 1/2 shafts are 2,200 each side though-less then series 30 - Jess

The new ones I just got are between 1550 (3 ton ) and 1610 (5 ton) more along what I was looking for - Cool looking U joint -Makes a 1480 look stupid- along with a ctm d-60 wheel joint -Not to say jack Does not make good stuff- Its just a size comparison- Jess

We will also have some news on how a set did in a race on a class 12 car this last weekend- Jess

onetoncv
06-19-2007, 09:34 PM
The class 12 car did not do well- We are dealing with a hot slip issue- It either cooked the boots off -or a boot failed to keep greace in- 60 miles is all we got got- the upside he noticed the extra wheel travel and the car ran great over the whoops- Now if i can iron out the boot issue were golden - Jess

onetoncv

What is the highest max angle and max plunge you have used on a sand car? How do the trans output flange bearings hold up?

onetoncv
07-11-2007, 09:08 AM
Max angle 40 degree's -plunge from 8" depending on length of the actual shaft to 12" if needed- and the Bearings on the bigger trans axles are not having any issues- The 2d is a bit of a weaker unit and hard use can cause side cover issues just jumping the vehicle- Jess

does the spline on the yoke dictate the spline on the slip, or is the yoke made to match the slip?

onetoncv
07-22-2007, 06:56 PM
Its all custom made -So not really-Jess

if the suspension did not have the distance from the hub to the differential changing, would you feel comfortable not having a slip joint.

I can't believe you could ever get a setup so perfect that the distance wouldn't change enough to cause problems with the joints.

here's a pic of the smaller one almost done- the heat sink took 50 degree's away at 1000 rpms in 30 seconds- We are very happy with the results-118" of cooling surface- :D -HAs anyone ever seen a greace-able heat sink ? This whole unit will hold aprox 1/2 of a canister of Desert gold (cat gold) -Jess
