OK my AX5 tranny is about ready to go :nuke: . Took it apart and some teeth are missing off of fifth gear and two bearings need replaced.The parts are too expensive to fool with this junk tranny made form recycled :beer: cans.Any ideas on what I can swap in without too much hassle.The only thing i've seen besides the nv4500 is an sm 420.It doesnt look too hard but they havent made the sm420 since the sixties :smokin:

Still lots of 420's around if you look. Someone was selling new surplus ones a while ago. You can take a look at this link for some ideas. After living with it for a bit with 5.38's I'd like a little bit less rpm on the highway but it's liveable depending on what you want.
