Anyone have a decent rear for sale ?

I bought a Yankee Hill rear flip up sight for $90ish and was very disappointed. Once it was "locked" in the upright position...I could move it in a 10-15 degrees arch. I didn't even bother trying to see how I could reinforce it....I sent it back.

I know two people who use an ARMS rear flip up sight and they seem to really like them.

I have an LMT solid mount...it's easy enought to take off. I'm just trying to find a spare swing lock so I can fab a Doc14 easy-off mount.

The GG&G MAD or A2 flip rear are both outstanding, I run the A2 on my AR.

Is this the A2 you're referring to?

if your have a flat top upper, why not just just a detach carry handle, gives the rear sight a nice brace...

These are my first AR's. I've only ever shot a few of them and they all had scopes or flip ups. I hadn't considerd that as an option. Might have to buy one if the price was right

Some people will likely want to utilize optics later down the road.

And this is why I asked the question. I can look at them all day long and theres just no way to tell what makes a good one or not.

Granted, that was MY experience with only one of their products...so take it at face value.

Does anyone make a rear flip up that is adjustable for evelation?

I have a Troy BUIS on mine; I love it. Absolutely zero movement in locked positions, and you can't accidentally fold it down.

I may have to give GG&G a try though...

I had GG&G and will be buying their sights again! outstanding piece of hardware and VERY solid. Midwest industries is like yankee hill.... junk imho

I sold my GG&G's because I was going to a longer rail setup. Now I need to get a rail mounted front sight from them. As for the rear... I had the GG&G A2.... but it wont fit with my scope. so Ill get the GGG MAD since its lower profile and should just clear my IOR

I set it to the large apature for when I am using my aimpoint. it does not get in the way nor present any problems.

that last one looks like someone just cut up a detach carry handle...

the detach carry handle comes off so you can put optics on...why would you want a iron sight taking up space when using a scope? take it off...even a flip up "could" be in the way or use part of the available eye relief.

I don't have a "scope" on mine :flipoff2: I have an Aimpoint :p

The LMT sight looks exactly as you described....

Most of the higher end flip up rear sights aren't approaching scope interference when using even Med. height rings. Also, many people are starting to utlize the co-witness feature between irons and elec. optics.

I have ARMS #40, and 40L on all my rifles. The 40 requires a spacer on my M68 mount for me to co-witness with the front sight in the lower 1/3 of the aimpoint.

I am going to try the TROY sights for my SBR.

With a scope I see your point.
But I know carrying the carry handle can be a PITA. It's just one more thing to worry about. It basically takes up a mag slot in your web gear.
If that isn't a concern then a detachable handle would work.
But you would still need a folding front right?

My setup doesn't have those problems.

The idea is to be able to yank the optic if it gets damaged and go to irons with a minimum of hassle. As for being in the way, yes they can be if you don't use a good sight or rings of the proper height.
