Well - get a VW GTI setup :D

Heres a neat 90mm round "projector" setup.
DOT legal
http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/new.htm

Cibie has these cool 70's Mercedes VW GTI like lights but yellow
http://www.talbotco.com/e-code_lamps.htm

If yer made o money - HID
(And DOT legal)
http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htm

Or get a GM truck setup (but I think thats UGLY)

eeek! those things are high dollar! are those 5 inch round lights at kragen, autozone street legal?

EWong

Well - genuine VW GTI
http://www.germanautoparts.com/

If yer looking at $5 lights....

Get buckets for an old skool 6024 (thats a 7" round) headlight.
Then headlights are cheap - and DOT legal (as a 6024 is a DOT beam - doh)

The only "Aftermarket" lights that would be DOT legal as headlights would probably be "snowplow" lights. Bolt em on and go.

The advantage of the snowplow lights - they have an integrated turn signal and clearance light.
Everything ya need to convince Officer Bob yer legal.

Northern has em I think.

Those typically use a 6054 beam. Those can be swapped for "e-code" beams when yer lottery ticket hits.

Go here (http://www.classicgarage.com) and click on Neolight... cheapy VW GTI lights.

If you really want to save... go look through the euro car section at your local yard. Many 70's and early 80's cars were upgraded to H4 lights. Look for the heavily fluted lens and 'H' designation on lens.

SEARCH!! yah faulker, I just asked the same question not even 3 weeks ago!! Did you even notice what I had for lights? If youd stop eatin them cheap mushrooms off that Oakey cow patties......:flipoff2:

No really, I bought them Hella Lights, They dont have high beam, and I tried to hook up some H4 bulbls but they have different bulbs, so lately I havent found any high/low beam bulbs that fit em. But if you aim em right, you will have no problems runnin them on the street. Although if you want high beams then just get out and aim em up, then they are bright! In my opinion, it was a good choice, they are low profile, I think 5" round, and can be mounted anywhere, upside down, sideways, Im sure you can even Spoon em :D :flipoff2:

Im buzzin. Its what I get for gettin off at 1pm. Ive got 5 hours on Yah :flipoff2:

I might have a seat. Actually, I got 4.

Paul, check on BugPack Part# 3530. It's a single post mount, 7" round headlight shell. That's what I plan on using with dual beam headlights.

APC makes a bizzatchin "diamond" lens replacement, box says its street legal, but has no DOT on the lens, so a cop might bust you. Hella makes 2 replacements, 1 is fully DOT 50 state legal, and the other isnt. 4 Wheel whoresalers has them cheapest, they have replaceable H4 bulbs so you can use an illegal bulb in a legal housing if you want to, and they work almost as good as the APC's.

If you want alot of light, a HID conversion kit is available for the H4 bulb. Get the 7x6 diamond housing to replace the stock lights, and the kit fits right in. Halogen H4 bulbs are the next step below. The HID kit is about $500-600, and $30 each for the diamond housings.
I don't carry them or they'd be cheaper.

HID (sorta off topic from the original post)

From what I understand about HID (which of course may be totally wrong), an H4 conversion to HID is a waste of $$$ in terms of usable light. Its fine if you want the "rice" HID look. The problem is that HID is a single filamet (the H4 is a dual filament) and the lens / reflector was not designed to take advantage of HID.

Considering the cost and that DOT legal HID is available in a 6054 sized package (uses H3 for high beam)....

http://www.sylvania.com/xenarc/prodinfo.htm

Considering the overall "rock bashing" the trucks gonna see -Id suggest DOT legal snowplow headlights... and a quick disconnect mounting system.
