Soryy this is for a 1994 chevy
Hillbilly 05-31-2002, 04:04 PM Which year are you talking about? The 88 and newer? Ifso the 1/2 ton and 6 lug 3/4 ton have the same front differential, but the 3/4 should have the corporate 9.5 semifloating. Asfar as the frames I don't know of any differences but I haven't fooled with many. Somebody else will know more so bump bump:D
blzn74 06-01-2002, 12:08 PM First off 1994 chevy trucks dont have axles in the front,Its all IFS, Actually from 87' and up chevy trucks dont have front axles, the difference between the light 3/4 ton and Heavy 3/4 ton REAR axles is light 3/4ton have smaller carrier(with 4:11 gears) smaller brake shoes, and the drums are six lug. Heavy 3/4ton axles have a biger carrier still with 4:11 gears but have bigger brake shoes, and bigger drums and come in 8 lug.
RootBreaker 06-01-2002, 10:13 PM I dont know what year yall are talkin about but my 1978 chevy 3/4 ton 8400gvw (camper special) came with a dana 44 up front and a 14 bolt in the rear. Both with 4.56's from the factory....
Hillbilly 06-02-2002, 07:55 AM Were talking about 88 and newer trucks having IFS. And yes they do have axles, CV axles, you know what runs from the diff to the hub:rolleyes: I can see how I could have confused you. I just figured everyone knew that the HD 3/4 had 14 bolt under them, full floating, 8 lug and a different front differential then the LD 3/4 and 1/2. I think the HD has a 9.25" ring gear and the LD has 8.25 or 8.5, not real sure. But asfar as the front suspension, all I know is the HD will proably have heavier torsion bars. I don't know if the cradle for the lift is the same or not. I'd call whoever is the manufacter of your lift, and try to talk to someone that is helpful.
:usa:
Oxblood 06-02-2002, 03:02 PM The Frame should be the same but I know the regular 3/4 ton had the semi-floating as hillbilly said, but it was a six lug axle. I put one in the back of my blazer to match the 6 lug J10 Dana 44 I am going to put up front for my solid axle swap. on newer models, the standard 3/4 has an 8 lug semi float and the HD has the full float 14bolt
Unless you are gonna haul more, then I would say stick with the 3/4 light lift, or do a 1/2ton lift...You may not be able to haul as much or tow as much w/o the rear squatting down sooner but it will ride better and flex better than a higher load lift kit because there should be less leaves and possibly lower spring rate...or thats my theory on it...just my .02
Krylon.. 06-10-2002, 07:53 AM The light duty 3/4's have the 14 SF and the 3/4 HD have the 14FF...
Other than that, the front diff may be a lighter duty unit in the light duty app...
88-96 3/4 ton 6 lug front diff. 8.2" rear 9.5" 14 bolt SF
88-96 3/4 ton 8 lug front diff. 8.5" rear 10.5" 14 bolt FF
92-96 1 ton 4WD front diff. 9.2" rear 10.5" 14 botl FF

3/4 ton 6 lug? Or are you talking about a heavy half ton?

I think the 60 was only a 1 ton item.. Never seen or heard of one in a 3/4 ton..

so far i have to agree
mbryson 06-17-2002, 07:48 PM I'd have to concur.......only place I've seen a D60 is the front of a one ton.
4Bangler 06-26-2002, 03:36 PM '88 and up 8-lug lifts are all the same, all the 8-lug 3/4 tons had teh 9.25" front axle, some 2500 trucks were 6 lug, but they had the smaller (8.25?) front axle, the rears could be semi-foat 14 bolts in either 6-lug or 8 lug applications, with the 1 tons being a full-floater 14 bolt. I may be a Jeep guy, but I've had over a dozen Chevy's and still got one.
