Let's make a Toyota Run to Clayton sometime in July.
I've been wanting to go to Clayton and July is when Lance Morin said he could go, so who else would be in?

I won't say 100%, but I will make an attempt. Been working a lot lately, and hopefully it will slow down soon. Get me some hard dates when it's a go, and I will go from there. I'd love to check it out as well.

Not all the trails, I did a few back in the day in my open-diffed Samurai with 29x10.5's in the rain and didn't have any problems.

The problem would getting enough of us 31"-tired yahoos together for a run, and having someone who knows the trail to lead us.

I'm up for something though, if it's not till july I might even be locked up by then.

This is a very true statement. I'll be honest, I don't want to spend my weekend leading around a bunch of stock like guys -- At least not that weekend. At the very least, have a rear locker and we can have fun dragging you around. On FWD-FWD's leased land, there is plenty of mild stuff for stock-like vehicles or single locker vehicles. If it rains, forget it if you are open - unless you just like to winch your rig around all day. You'll do that enough if you are locked on both ends and it rains!

I don't mind taking less equipped people out, just not this trip. In fact, I had a buddy from Missouri with 31" All-Terrains and a rear locker only that we hauled around on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. When people don't know their way around, I cannot show both groups. Most the people I run with have at least 33" tires and lockers on both ends. We may not end the trip that way, but that's how it usually begins :D

I'll be out there 'working' the weekend of the 12th-14th. So the weekend before (July 4th weekend) would be great or the last weekend of July. It's my 11th year anniversary on the 20th of July, so I'll be otherwise occupied with chick stuff then...

If it's only 2-3 rigs, come join us on weekend of the 12th. You'll get to see a few nice Jeeps with 42's coming out to play.

Hey Lance, John and I were talking about this yesterday and pretty much both of us would prefer mid-late July. I'd like to see what Clayton is like

Clayton is like going fourwheeling... that's what it's like. It's basically wheeling in the Kiamichi Mountiains of Southeastern Oklahoma. Tree lined trails going up and down, running some watersheds, maybe a creek trail or two. Rocks in places, not in others. Slabs in some places, not in others. Trees most every place. The leased land is all private and we have no restrictions. If we think it'll be fun or exciting, we run it. Out in Clayton proper, things are different. Most of what's left is WMA land, but there are still a few trails on the south side of Wildwood Road (Lower PowerLine, Snake Pit, Jim & Juanita's and the ABC trails). The rest of the old favorites are closed until somebody buys the land from Georgia Pacific (all of it, not just what the trails are on). Those trails closes are the lower sections of 3-stage, St. Valentine's, Rock Creek, Lost Creek, Timberline, Purple Headed, and Upper PowerLine.

A&A is the place to stay (unless camping) if wheeling on the leased land. Plenty of parking space and the lease is North about 13 miles.

If you guys prefer the end of the month -- July 26th, 27th and 28th. (the new trail should be ready by this time)

Mid month -- July 12, 13th and 14th (clearing a new trail off of Hoe Garden on the leased land)

Early month -- July 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th (It's never very crowded in Clayton on 4th of July weekend - It's usually hot though)

Those are my available dates for July and about anything in August and September.

End of the month would be better for me after looking at my schedule. Need to see if we can scare up Cannon aswell. :D

You mean Skank the BMW brat? :barf:

He's probably mad at me for bailing on my June trip to go wheeling down in his neck of the woods. Word has it he's even paying to do some wheeling.

Seriously, if it's an event, Robert will be there with Frank. Although after wheeling with Ivan Stewart, he's not quite the same guy he used to be.

The end of the month is good enough for me -- 26th, 27th, 28th, it is!

That's cool, I understand :)

I'd really like to make a weekend run to clayton sometime this summer. Any stockers who are interested, drop me a PM and maybe we can see about putting a mild-trail fun-run together some weekend.

How does Disney compare to Clayton?

We are planning a trip down to OK in September/October timeframe. Maybe three to five rigs. Disney is much closer for us. Will Disney keep us busy for a weekend?

Clayton is another 175 miles? Which area is preferred and why?

What are our chances of getting a guide to help us thru the trails in September/October? Disney or Clayton.

Never been to Clayton...yet, but Disney was a hoot few weeks ago and lots of the area was close due to the spillways being wide open...I had a blast and plan to go back sometime this summer. I'll be in Moab in Sept./Oct so I might miss ya on the trip to Disney...or Clayton

That's the weekend after we get back from a week of running the Rubicon and other NorCal trails! I'm not sure my ass will be able to handle any more road miles that soon after that epic drive!

Thanks for thinking of me, though... :flipoff2:

Thinking of you... poor Robert, who just HAS to go show off by wheeling in Northern Cali. Yeah, I feel real bad for you :mad2:

Besides, you know I meet you in Clayton most anytime.

We can hit your home turf after you get some rest from that road trip. In fact, I want to get some details of your plans.

If that Mason venue pans out it should definitely be worth the drive, especially from Dallas. Maybe a long weekend with a couple of days on the ranch in Mason then a day at the slab.

You can borrow them for cash :flipoff2: I'm not going to haul a set of tires and haul them back...too much hassle. I hope they are sold by then though. Hope to see ya in Clayton
