Right now I have a cheapo 1/2 helmet but ordering a Simpson open face. I've tried my full face mcycle helmet but I got kind of a big head and that thing is so big I can't see crap out of it.

Get a full face either street bike (what I have) or motorcross style. People can hear you easier out of the motorcross style. Anything less (1/2 or 3/4) helmet will not allow the neck brace to offer its full benefit. After the hits I took last year, Ill never run comp without a full helmet and neck brace.

Spending the extra $ on a carbon fiber helmet or an ulralight race helmet is insurance Money to save your neck. A heavy helmet causes the most common injury in racing...neck strains.
A heavy helmet with a neck brace is worse than a light helmet with no neck brace...but a light helmet with neck brace is the best.

Very good points. I may reconsider and try to find a full face that works for me.
