: blue headlights retro-fit
Chief yelling alot 05-31-2002, 04:42 PM Ok so I was in a buddies car at night and he has blue headlighs (like a BMW) and dam are they nice on the eyes so is ther a kit or a "blue" headlight that fits into your regular round head light car
now befor you get the wrong idea hear me out I like them because you can see more and there way nicer on the eyes. I'm not thinking about it to be "cool" or a ricer poser. In fact it probili looks silly seeing an old International with blue head lights
Whitewater 05-31-2002, 04:48 PM I'm sure someone at JU will know the answer to this, once their server is up you could probably get an answer over there. Hell just go buy some of them lights and if they don't fit get some zip ties and duct tape, that's what I do when I want lights.
hahahahahah tie wraps rule ay....
i have bocsh round h4's that i bought for a volkswagen gti...and they just fit in perfectly they sell that blue shit for h4 ....BUT what you want is the HID system that costs big bucks go to
www.supremepowerparts.com thay have all types there...:flipoff2:
Grim Reaper 05-31-2002, 05:24 PM Well first off does your buddy have the rear deal projectors or did he just slap some blue colored hologens in a stock light. The real deals are nice. Very high quality lights. To retrofit those your talking a few hundered bucks US. Typicaly only see them on High end cars Like Lexus, Infinity, BMW, Benz, Porsche.
The problem with blue is fog. Typicaly most incondesents are better in fog unless you have a high quality light like Hella's, IPF. Ciebe or other quality lights. Most less expensive vehicles have crappy lights. They will alow too much light to difuse unfocused out of the housing and the blues will make it really bad in the fog. They are also damn irritating to on comming drivers . In a quality housing they are fine because the light is all focussed.
All the damn rice boys are running the blue bulbs in their shitty honda's with fart pipes and I'm about ready to start running a few of them over. They are blinding me. Course I fight back in My Supra. 90/100w H4 Hella's with upgraded 10 gage wires and 4 30 amp Bosch relay's. Double redundent, didn't want a problem with one light or circut to kill all the lights. I could have done it on a single double pole single throw relay but as fast as I drive if I took a rock through a bulb I wanted to make damn sure I wouldn't lose the other light. Mine are also the non DOT approved ones at that (european beam). Never irritating on low beam but Guaranteed Retna damage at a 100 yards on high beams. I can shut down Caddi auto dim lights from over a 1/2 a mile :)
Get a good quality set of retrofit lights. You won't be disapointed. Blue is not the key. Reflector housing design is.
TODDK 06-01-2002, 03:39 AM I agree blue lights suck... I think hella makes super brights which are a brighter whiter light that would work better...
I have hid in my wifes cabrio, man they are real nice they really light up the road but they are European also and not street legal in the states... But most people do not know.... Putting the hid take some time also they usually have extra equipment to power the lights.....
good luck
4x4junkie 06-01-2002, 04:39 AM What I find odd is people say they are so much brighter, and they can see further with those blue things. But when I get alongside one of those vehicles, I can barely see their light beam on the road compared to my regular white halogen lights (and that even in spite of that mine cast their light from 2 1/2 feet higher up and hit the road much further out).
I've never been behind the wheel of a vehicle with blue lights, but it would seem you wouldn't see as much with a less visible beam on the road.
Those "real deal" (the actual H.I.D.) ones are brighter, but the color rendition sucks compared to halogen.
SHERPA 06-01-2002, 07:56 AM True HID systems, (High Intensity Discharge) aren't cheap. infact
they're around $500 for a retro-fit set.
Go look at www.iguanamotors.com
I think the HID lights are kinda neat myself. but those blue-halogen copy-lites suck. infact, alot of people have cooked their
wiring harness's because the bulbs drew too much current, and
the stock wiring couldn't handle it.

Muddin 06-01-2002, 08:07 AM I got some headlights from Napa that are really nice. They are called "Lazer Blue" and it's a really bright white light that have a little bit of a blue tint to them, but they are mainly just really white. They light up the road like day time, they're pretty sweet! And they don't cost a fortune. If you're needing the round ones, the part number is #H6024BK for the round ones. They reflect off blue reflectors and it just gives you a really white light.
Muddin 06-01-2002, 08:10 AM forgot to add. You'd have to do a composit conversion and put a zenon light in there. A freind of mine did this on his ford and I honestly can't tell a difference between the headlights I'm running (those lazer blue) and his.
Chief yelling alot 06-01-2002, 11:13 PM cool guys
:rasta:
Dychen 06-02-2002, 01:33 AM you can buy the H4 bulb kit for 7" round headlights on ebay for around 50 bucks. most the time they throw in a set of HID colored bulbs. another thing that remotely interested me about these is that some of them have a place for an extra light inside the housing ("city lights" is what they called them) which might work good for a turn signal:confused:
