I bought a 73 D44 6 lug pass. drop axle from a Chevy truck. Is this a direct bolt in swap or will I have to move one of the perches?

Thanks!!!

you measure the center pin to center pin on the axle you bought, then the one under thejeep now. im pretty sure your gonna have to move the perches

UH . . . you're probably going to have to move both the perches. I'm not sure how wide center pin to center pin on a YJ is but there was about 7" difference on my CJ. Center pin to center pin on a Chevy d44 is 31.5", I believe. I can't believe this thread has gone this long without some flaming.

YJ perches are 31.25" and Chevy are 31.5". You can move it if you want, but it will only be off 1/8" on each side if you don't. I wouldn't bother with it.

:) Me too.

Thanks cmegroup. I was almost sure they were the same. I don't have access to the Jeep until next week so wanted to know in advance.

Did you just widen the hole on the drivers perch to make it fit?

It will bolt in. You will have to push the springs out a little but no big deal. I have had a 72 D44 and a 86 D60 in my YJ. Never slotted the holes or moved any perches.
