These are a few photos of my 1971 IIA / RR 3.9 HYBRID. It's been on the road for 16 months. Took about a year and a half to build in my driveway, with a hip replacement at the half way point. ALWAYS refining and improving (I hope).

This is mostly how it looks today.

I know this is a very capable Rover but nothing like many I see on this forum. My intention is to have a very dependable daily driver and a good off road Rover for non damaging trails. I try to improve it every chance I get. I'm retired so I have lots of time.

Hope I have not posted too many pictures. I have about a hundred more but I dare not post.

Thanks,

Paul

Nice build. Very clean looking.
Don't know if I would like the flip front, but nicely done.

OK, now register for the rally and start making plans to bring it out to Montrose.
We need more Series hybrids showing up :D Think we have 6atm.

Very interesting! I think I like the flip-front, talk about good engine bay access...

You're in Mass?
Now, make plans to attend the 2007 MAR in VA!!

I definitely like the flip front. Good looking rig.:grinpimp:

BSROA is still a mess but Fall Heritage was fun and John Robison usually puts together a good Western Mass run 1 - 2 times a year. Hope to see you out on the trail.

that is a beautiful truck. i am nearly done with a dana axle swap (cheaper than a toy conversion) and i would like to swap on a series body one day. too bad you are not in arizona, i would love to see more of that rig, and wheel with you.
good luck.

Thanks for the comments. The tilt front end makes it so easy to reach EVERYTHING on the engine and has not been any problem. It holds down tight on the rain gutter with a piece of clear hose for a gasket.
I hear nothing but good about BSROA now. When I was involved it was run by someone who worked for a Rover dealer and had his own business, all he did was advertise for himself. If I don't have a conflict I'm planing on going to Rover Fest @ Killington, VT this summer and The British Invasion @ Stowe, VT in September. Hope to see some of you soon.

Very nice, I like the flip front end. But i am not sure about the engine bay wiring. Looks.....I would damage something for sure. Maybe some sort of shielding?
Those of us who are putting other engines in our Rovers (i am putting a Mercedes 5Cyl Turbo Diesel in mine) this might be an idea for the tight space this will create.

Hi,

The wiring has been protected. It runs in flexible conduit wire tied to both of the braces that go from the radiator support to the bulkhead.

I will post a few photos of the hinge. In my mind I set it up so I can pull a pin and remove the hood all together, and it works, though I still need to put plugs on the light wiring so I can unplug them.

Forgot, the air horns are from e-bay, from Texas. As close to train horns as I could get without the $400. tag. I think I paid $130 or so.

I think you can see the hinges better with this one. There is a pin on the left side of the right hinge. Hood slides off to the drivers side.

Inside of hood. The horns are from Serige engineering out of Texas, always on e-bay.

Taken today, most of the wiring is protected, at least more than it was.

I do need to spend some time to make the e-brake look neater! A work in progress. Open to suggestions!

That's it for now. Sorry about the dirty Rover, I'll clean it soon. After a beer  and a nice cigar:smokin:

That's what I was after. People who don't know Land Rovers only ask what year it is. Of course I can't resist saying "1971, and 1987, and 62 or 64, and Land Rover, and Range Rover, oh and newer engine" or something like that! The little kids don't ask they just point! Thanks, Paul
