I was wondering about Shackle Reversal systems on Sammies? Some stuff I have read says they are very dangerous and some stuff say they safely improve handling and ride. What gives? I am only wanting a small lift on my 87 and this seems like a good option that will improve ride. I need this to be a capable daily driver.

If it's only your daily driver why bother Yes it does improve ride
no it doesnt make the charicteristics dangerous,

I had an S/R on one of my Zuks. I built it this way because this vehicle was built to be a sand dune jumper. In this one regard,I felt the S/R helped.

However, the highway was a different matter. Driving straight down the road didn't make any difference, cornering was spooky though. When cornering hard or especially cornering while braking there was big feeling of 'drift' on the front end. My fiance refused to drive this Samurai as a result. Bottom line, the S/R was spooky in our opinion.

We're not the only ones to feel this way. In all fairness though, some folks like them; still some folks who have tried them hate them.

Ok I can agree with that but by putting a pan hard bar on should
correct the feeling of drifting

I thought about a panhard bar, I don't think it can be done due to the amount of movement your axle does with the YJ's in a S/R config. After I started driving mine I came to the conclusion I didn't need one.
