Fun in the Desert is one of the most fun organized events I have ever been to. I unfortunately wasn't able to make it last year but I am definitely looking forward to it this year. You guys do an awesome job organizing that event. Very fun, low key, and kicked back.

We put wrecking ball as the first choice for our club...this will be my first run to the Hammers in a long time, so I didn't want to lead a run. Next year, we will be more than happy to assist the event in leading a trail...look forward to meeting a bunch of new people!!!

Thanks, after looking on a map I found it and mapped it. It looks like coming from San Diego it would be quicker to go 15-215 to 60 to 10 and up the way from Phoenix from there. Do you know if that way makes more sense or not?

Anyone else from SD going? I have to go early Saturday morning because my daughter has a birthday on Friday here.

You dont need to hit the 60 or 10 just take 15 all the way or run 15 to 215 back to 15N to Victorville exit Bear Valley Rd

I would just take the 15 straight up and like TOOLPIMP said, exit Bear Valley and head east. Wouldn't even mess with taking the 215 then going west on 60 or 10 to get back on the 15. All the interchanges bring the suck. 15 north is all you need

so, due to a recent move across the state I'm a little light on my recovery gear and misc 4x4 stuff I would normally bring with me on a run. Is there a list of the crap recommended to bring? Should I stop by in colton and pick up some last min stuff. I don't have my high lift and straps with me. I figure somebody should have some? Yeah, stupid question, I know.

Is there anyone I can ride with. My rig is not up to par and I want to go take some pics. I have a 7.2mp digital camera with enough free space to capture video as well. I can even bring my second memory card. I can throw rocks good too. Look for a red 1999 dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 Turbo Diesal. If you want me to camp out, I can do one night.

VV4W goes by the Cal4Wheel rules. There is a list of required stuff for trail runs on the Cal4Wheel web site. If you did or are going to register and pay for the event you have to go threw inspection and they look for it.

Thanks to VV4W for a great weekend. The wind Friday night was not the best, but our group had a great time out there. Other than Friday night the weather was great. We ran Sunbonnet on Friday and did the event run up Wrecking Ball on Saturday. On Sunday we ran Claw for an end to a great weekend.:D

I'll be out there thursday night I think, I would offer you a seat but I have a very attractive young lady riding with me. I think we are running resolution on friday too, after that I might go scouting for some new trails or go run that new bender trail. Looks gnarly.

You get to work on the fixin yet dude??

Nope, did you see it sunday morning? we rolled it down the first ledge again on back door dragging it out of there and it fucked the shit out of the cage, so Im cutting the body and cage off and starting fresh, I think I might link the front too. Hell I should just build a new buggy, I don't think a samurai can handle my driving.

I saw your driving...I'm not sure anything can stand up to that!!! I would just start off with a whole new chassis and some of you parts...Easy style!!!

I agree with that. If you ever get more than 56 horsepower, you might be dangerous:flipoff2:

Hell if I had more hp I would have to hit everything at WFO, maybe I just need to put a weak samurai motor in, I never broke shit when it had 12 hp.

But where would the entertainment be in that?

I honestly think I laughed harder this entire trip than I have ever laughed in my life!:smokin: It has been so long since I have seen so much "silly'ness" and "boys being boys", I can't remember the last time I had that much fun.:D You fix yours, I'll fix mine, the others will fix theirs, and we will do it again.:D

Good luck,

All I can say is I had a great time hangin out with a great bunch from Arizona! Thanks guys. You all definatly opened my eyes to the true definition of Hard Core. And that is the only way I like it.

The rocket ride definatly belongs to EasyRick. You sit back and wait for the turbo to spool, and BOOM! everything turns into a blur or the rear end starts to wag like a fish running from the hunter. Not to mention He was always looking for the hardest way up and actually made it! He made "Highway 20" look like..well... a Highway.

The little engine that could(and can) goes to JeepCrazie. Who ever said that a bone stock 2.5 liter is worthless needs to ride in this rig. Super low gears, great foot work, and he will have your ass pucker REAL QUICK LIKE going through "Full Of Hate". For more then a couple of times I thought we where going over. But Suprizingly enough, the rig was stable and crawled up the hardest and knarliest situations I have ever seen. Lots of fun Man

What does a 400 HP Corvette motor feel like in a 3000 lb buggy? I give this award to KrawlFreak. A mild case of Whip lash and still taking about 1500 mg of motrine from riding up "BackDoor". That was GREAT!

And if anyone needs a tow rig on the trail, give RSQnel a call. His buggy combo was always ready, and super reliable.

I give the Heart break award to ZcarCzar. I have NEVER seen someone end up with that bad of a situation. My Hat is off to you for focusing on getting out of the situation, keeping your cool, and looking on the positive side. Im sure your next rig will be a killer. Just make sure you transfer your JukeBox to the new rig for othes to enjoy the music

I really hope I meet with you all soon again and im sure pics will be coming soon. Next time I will get my rig out and play with you all, if you don't mind lettin a Hardcore Newb bumb along in a so-so rig?

Keep in touch

Sorry that there club puts on a great run, makes food and has a raffle. Damn that club. Have you ever volunteered to put on a run? If no then shut the f up. It takes a ton of work and time to get things done. And if no then you have no say on how things are done until you help out. I'm not in VV, but I am a volunteer for Hi desert and Panamint valley days. And every year we get some jerkoff who doesn't like how the event was run, but will never volunteer to help out and change what he didn't like. So STFU:flipoff2:

i am vv or was i disolved my member shit at the run..there way of thinking is stone age.I was in charge of FUN IN THE DESERT the club gives no credit to people that help.they let people on the trail that have ill equiped rigs.there idea of making it through the trail is to stack it into a freeway.if it sounds like i'm a little bent i am. one of the reasons i quit was i was told i do not have enough time invested in the club for my opinion to matter

Post up what the problems are.

Coming from someone who's involved in planning a large event (TIN:skull:BENDERS Jambo) I always want to hear the good and the bad comments from the participants so we can put on good runs.

Not being an insider in vv I have very little knowledge on there workings. It is great to hear someone from the inside. If that was the way that they run things then I understand your position. As the part about the rigs being unperpeared, we have the same problem on our runs. We are on open land and can't stop anyone from going on the with us. I thank you for the time you put in and welcome you to our campsite anytime.

I do volunteer at runs and clean ups jerk off, find out what you are talking about before you speak...or at least ask before you accuse. I have attended several of vvfw meetings and did help (in a small capacity) with the run. I have 3 very good friends that are in this club and know the president of the club well! Like Krawler76 I was on Wrecking ball when we were told by one of the founding members of VV(Chuck Shainner) while the lead vehicle ( not Chuck but a friend of his) on the run broke part way up the trail that everyone on the trail had to wait for him to repair his vehicle before anyone else could move! There were at least 3 rigs helping him to get his rig fixed (broken u bolt) and a bypass directly to the right of where he broke that they could have let people pass on and run the trail. But instead we were told that no one moves until he gets fixed! I am not the type of person to leave anyone on a trail , but he had people helping him and there is no reason to make 20 people wait because of someone’s EGO. Oh and by the way you loud mouth ass hat, I did discuss this with members of the club with no resolution

My family and I had a blast. We Met alot of great people and i'm very glad some of my entry fee goes to help out things related to my sport. The rafle was fun and my 2 year old had a blast throwing sand on everyone looking for quarters. (sorry if he got anyone).:flipoff2:

I will give VV a little leway on the trail part. They have all sorts of rigs showing up to wheel . You either have to tell the built rigs to do the easy stuff for everyone to follow. OR tell the stock rubicons to keep up with the built rigs. Tough call for a family event.

We did jack and they wanted to bypass the harder parts. I am glad the let us do the trail the way we wanted. But i'm shure it caused some hard ships for other smaller rigs. I offered to go help rescue a tj the next day on Jack since I got the run the trail the way i wanted. Thanks VV I will be back next year.

There is never a easy answer out there. Just be patient and be glad we have events like this. It is pretty comon to know there will be a major break or trafic jam when wheeling on a event out there.

i agree, about the breakage....we spit off wrecking ball and hit jack north. we lost 3 driveshafts a dana 60 axle shaft a tire and a highsteer arm....the diff is that when they broke we moved them aside and fixed them out of the way if possible and let the other rigs by......but i do gfet what you are talking about.

I fawking DESPISE IT when people who can move out of the way do not do so. I will be the first person to jump out and get my hands dirty, donate parts or whatever it takes to get any broken person fixed but when they have all the help they need, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!!!

If you can move over, please do it and let others by. It is the polite thing to do.
