Yesterday I noticed steam from under the hood of my truck at a red light. I looked at the temp and it was running a little hot. When I got home, only a block away, I popped the hood and there was pools of coolant on the top of the intake manifold. At the time, there was no coolant dripping onto the ground it seems to be contained on the top of the manifold.

What could cause this leak? Could it be the intake manifold gasket? The head gasket? Are there any valves or anything in there that have coolant running through them? I checked my manual but without knowing what to look for it was pretty hard to find anything.

I will pull the air cleaner today, after work, to get a better look but in the mean time can you guys think of anything that may cause this?

Yep, there's a little 90* 1/2" or so hose that's only about 4" long at the top front of the engine. $5 says that thing is doing it. You'll see it, but you have to look close. it's centered left and right. It could also be the thermostat housing up there, but I would bet on the hose.

That hose is the most PITA thing to replace on that engine. Take your time. Mine took a weekend of off and on work and a few choice words to replace.

It took about half an hour to find it and to pull it off. I realize that it is going to be much worse to try and get back on. I would have tried by now but with the holiday weekend (in Canada) and me working everyday I haven't got a replacement yet. And now it's pouring rain and I have to do it outside. Man, this little leak is proving to cause me a major headache.

Although as long as it is done in time for me to pick up my new dirt bike on Saturday I will be happy.
