is camping on the back side of loon lake legal still, does it fall within the 50' radious or 25' radius of whatever it is, to be more clear i mean the section of camping after you get to the top of the ganite bowl heading toward ellis, i always liked that spot and have camped there for several years( driving to it Off the trail). Anybody measured the length from it to the center of the trail:flipoff2: I know you can camp there but what about driving to it?

You can camp around Loon Lake, you just can't drive to it from the Rubicon.
This has been discussed many times here, and I encourage you to look through other posts for more discussion, but in a nutshell the county has a 50' easement for the Rubicon Trail and it's legal variants. All vehicles must stay within this easement on established trails (i.e. not through any sort of vegetation or area which is clearly not the trail). I know the trail can be difficult to find across the slabs. FOTR added reflectors marking the trail through the bowl, so as long as you drive and park near these reflectors you will be fine.
