picked up a jeep mj... im building it and i am having a few thoughts on what i should do for steering to keep the build somewhat cheap for now..

dana 44s front and rear outa a waggy. i will be using sway away coil overs with 16 inchs of travel... im not sure what to do for steering... the front will be a 3 link with a wishbone upper link... i dont want to break the bank with a steering set up... should i just make a longer drag link and with heim joints on both end and run a bolt through the pitmen arm and the other end down to the high steer arm?? will that work and give it a descent steering with out a dropped arm or not... the rig will be driven around town every now and then for shits and giggles... it will be rolling on 38s

anybody have any pics or links to show me some ideas???:confused::confused:

a cheap build with 16"s of shaft in a jeep?
:laughing::laughing::laughing:
how are you gonna be able to use all that travel, with crossover steering and those short stumps you jeep guys call driveshafts?

Stumps for driveshafts.... He is talking about an MJ, not exactly short driveshafts!

I am running 8-9" of lift. I have a ferd HP 44 with chevy flat top knuckles. I am using high steer arms with spacers. I am running heim joints with the drag link attached to the tie rod. With all of this I am using the stock pitman arm. Works great! I have the PSC ram assist kit on it as well. I DD mine 3-500 miles a week with out any complaints from the steering.

I was looking at 38" tsl sx's but found a set of 36" iroks for a great price. I have enough clearance to run 38-39" tires.
