: Differences between an SJ410 and an SJ413?
Krylon.. 06-01-2002, 10:15 PM What are the differences between these models? I am looking at a 410 but I have seen 413 metioned on the Rocky Road site.
Are these all Samurais? Or is there differences between the Samurai and the 410?
The main difference I see is the grille.
THanks!!! :)
mud-magnet 06-02-2002, 08:01 AM the 410 is 82 to 85 which is 3" narrower than a 86+ samurai........ older ones where known to roll easy, but i'v never noticed a differance between the 82's my dad had and the 88's both me and dad have now........... also the grill is differant, 4spd., dash is different, lower t-case gears, 85 had lower R&P gears, and they had a 1.0L engine i beleive..........

GBRAVO 06-03-2002, 07:21 AM SJ410 has 1.000 cc engine, 4.11 r&p, 5cm dia smaller ring, app 3:1 t case, other tranny and smaller axles.
SJ413 is similar than a Samurai but with SJ410 width. Firmer parabolic springs not softer elliptic springs like Samurai.

Actually the 410 was 82 to 84 with 4.10 gears and 1000cc
the 85 was actually a 413 with narrow axles and 3.90 gearsand a 1300cc. The Grill on the 85 is the same as all 413's of the 80's. The 410 grill was steel.
Also the 410 gear box was not 3:1, that was a LJ.
LJ's had 4.56 gears and a 850cc with similar sized axles as a 410, but centered diff.

If you are refering to the 410 having 3.90s you are wrong. 410s had 4.10 axle gears.

rockzooki 06-03-2002, 11:13 PM stupid question, but could someone tell me if the lj(3to1) t case would work in an 88?

That is a stupid question, considering I just finished saying that they have a centered diff f/r. :D
You would be better to go 4:1
badzuki 06-04-2002, 05:57 AM are those ring and pinion gears conpatible with samurai axles? a straight swap?

Which? the LJ? NO. They are compatible with the SJ axles, but not Sammy.
SJ410- 4.10 gears = LJ80 - 4.56 gears
85 SJ413- 3.90 gears= Sam- 3.73 gears

Plus the LJ case is a small transfer case. I wouldn't use it in a Sam - hell, my LJs are going Sam t-case. Parts availability is the other factor. Not expensive but PITA factor getting rebuild parts. I've got plenty of other stuff to do with my time.

I see there are different models in the States than other countries, here the SJ410 carried 4.11 R&P.
What about Samurais?, here are 3.909 and 3.727
