I recently pulled my bumper off on order to rebuild it and make a tire carrier.
the bumper had a 2" receiver and I used it to pull a 1/2 ton trailer at times.
I noticed when I removed the bumper, that the rear cross member has stress cracks around the mounting holes. I will need to weld these up and make some frame tie-ins
With the rear shackle in the stock location I will have only about 2" of space to mount it to the frame So I'm thinking of a 1/2" grade 8 bolt along with some welds.
Anyone have a suggestion for this .. or a photo of theirs?
Perhaps I should relocate the spring hanger under the frame to give me more room to work with. Just did not want to get into that at this time..
