Yes is did the search an came up with little. I was wondering what would it take to install an auto tranny from a turbo 4 runner into a 85 pu with a 22r. what all would I need and is it possible.

Well, at least you'd be doing the 4runner a favor.

There may be a auto tranny computer and or an EFI computer swap involved as well.

May also have a differnt wiring harness too...

Man - thats ALOT of work

At least you'll be able to sell the clutch pedal assembly (to me prefferably) :rasta:

(it would probably be FAR easier to get an auto tranny truck and sell the manual tranny truck)

An a340h will bolt right up,your driveshafts might need altering.

And yes ya need an ecu for the tranny, which was seperate back then ,now its part of the engine ecu.
A tranny cooler, and linkage, form a wrecked truck would be easier.

Lots of work there imho.........

Depends on how bad you want to stop shifting manually to go through all that..

I have an auto and like it but if i had my choice i would et the a340f,which comes with a standard shifting transfercase, like a stick shift, you will have to get a usa made transfer case, others are left hand exit .

Then you can have the dual stick super crawler gears and an auto, never have to worry about burn a clutch ,or breaking a birfield ,because the torque convertor will take up the shock and some of the torque.
Someone in here did this swap and loves it,he had a v6 i believe tho.

Like i said lots a work...
