: Interest in FToy's in midwest, CO, WY, UT?
Brian Ellinger 05-24-2007, 11:00 AM EDIT: FROR will NOT be building chassis's, there was simply not enough interest to justify it. We will be concentrating on other areas, that may help build these, but will not be looking to produce these in the future.
noahfecks 05-24-2007, 11:23 AM building one in grand junction,CO. Sure would have been nice to get my chassis more locally. Great idea, we also need a local series to run like the east coast put together. Build them!
MT4Runner 05-24-2007, 01:23 PM Hi Brian,
I'm closer to CO than I am to CA.
I am very-very-interested in a DOM FToy chassis, my timeline is inside 2 months. PM me if you get things worked out with Hendrix. I'm about ready to plunk down the deposit, and I'd be willing to be your first guinea-pig.
Your very detailed build thread was probably the tipping point for me. :flipoff2:
Oh, and a buddy of mine has dumped $35k into a TJ buggy, and I'm fired up to kick his ass with a Toy that costs 1/3 as much!!!

Detailed, I was thinking we were lacking on that, just a couple detail points.
Ill let you know.
MT4Runner 05-25-2007, 07:33 AM Actually, you had a lot of details on items that are "decision" items; you didn't have details on the "obvious" stuff that is in many other Toy/FToy builds.
CO-Jeff 05-28-2007, 08:06 PM We're considering assembling chassis here to help keep shipping costs lower for folks in this area. We would be getting chassis from Hendrix, just needing welded together. Then assemble the chassis' here.
Let us know if you are interested in building an Ftoy in the area, but the cost of shipping the chassis was killing it. :grinpimp:
I am interested in one as well, any idea when this may happen.
Or what does it cost to ship to the Denver area.
Thanks,
Jeff

From talking with Mike, We'd be about 4 weeks from when we commit to 6 chassis's to the time we would have them in pieces here.
axleater1 06-01-2007, 12:25 PM there are a few toy guys talking about it up here in the black hills. I am ready to commit to one for this winter's project.
MT4Runner 06-01-2007, 10:13 PM Well, that's 3:

Need 3 more! :bounce:
1sicbronconut 06-02-2007, 12:57 AM I'd be intrested, altough I'd be building a Formula Bronco. One of the things thats been holding me form making the dive is the extra $$ to drive out to Cali to pick it up. Would the cost be about the same as buying direct from Hendrix? When would you need the up front cash?
MT4Runner 06-02-2007, 07:10 AM That's cool....wasn't there a guy on Gen 4x4 building a Formula Scout?
These are the most affordable, well thought-out chassis I've ever heard of. Heck, I spent $750 two years ago for my 7-stick exo!
Any plans to re-use any of your EB sheetmetal, or just the grille? :flipoff2:
1sicbronconut 06-04-2007, 10:36 AM I'll use a cut down grille and hood for sure. Hope this deal goes through, I'm going to buy one either way and saving $300-$400 in fule would be great.
Brian Ellinger 06-04-2007, 04:13 PM Im going to contact everyone who mentioned they are interested through PM. From there we will see where everyone is at, and make a decision on our end. If you are interested, PM me as well.
lgraham09 06-04-2007, 05:50 PM I am interested in Iowa but will not be ready for the chassis for about another year.

66fj40x2 06-04-2007, 07:49 PM I got a PM on another forum about a '85 'Runner frame in the Colorado Springs area. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll get ya the contact info.
Brian - I'm slooooowly working on one in Kansas. I'd really like to see some more in the Midwest.
BajaBilly 06-04-2007, 07:52 PM I would be interested, if we could get some events or a rocky mountain series going out this way.
MT4Runner 06-04-2007, 07:53 PM Heck yeah, BB, I'd be down for that!

Working on one in GJ hoping for the same thing.
zjrog 06-04-2007, 09:40 PM Very cool... I live over here west of SLC, and contacted Hendrix earlier this year. I'd sure like to drop one of those FToys on my 90 Ranger (hey, its what I got!)... I'm not ready to buy yet, but when I am, hope you can do them!
MT4Runner 06-04-2007, 10:17 PM C'mon, lgraham09 and zjrog, hold up a liquor store or something.....get Brian up to the magic number so we can get our chassis' in progress!!

Not too sure I want to do that, the STATE owns all the liquor stores here in Utah... :grinpimp: Besides, I've got a kid in college to cover  and need to come up with another street legal car for my daughter :shaking: as well as feed my Jeep... :spam: Nope at least six months out.... :(

I have thought about this myself. For the time being I think they would have to be informal ftoy comps. Grab some cones at Home Depot, and setup courses on existing trails. Just have to schedule it with other ftoy rigs. Im guessing/hoping that once we get ours out on trails in CO, that will spark some more interest in ftoys as well. Especially if getting a chassis is easy and reasonable cost.
Off hand areas that would work:
Indy
BV Carnage
Top of Holy Cross
21 road
montrose
even moab
at least 3 rigs would be best. Then youve got people to switch off driving, spotting, judging.

this would be sweet! mine should be shipping soon. you were a few weeks late with this thread.
Albuquerque Jim 06-05-2007, 11:20 PM I am interested in NM...time frame 1-3 months.
Brian1 06-06-2007, 11:56 AM I am interested in NM
In conversation with several people around the Abq, NM area I have heard of interest in FToy chassies but shipping was always mentioned as 1 reason for not getting one. This would be at least 3 people not including Jim above
Brian Ellinger 06-06-2007, 01:54 PM Alb. would be a decent distance. I think its ~8-10 hours from us. But if you got a few guys together and chipped in on gas to pick them up at once (fullsize&trailer) I would think the cost would become pretty reasonable.
MT4Runner 06-06-2007, 02:20 PM Dangit! I read this page before I looked back at p. 1, and thought you might be talking about Alberta, not Albuquerque and got all excited for nothing!
Any chance you could do the same gig with an X-chassis? I know of a guy locally who is thinking of doing one instead of an F-Toy.

A lot closer than CA...I have access to a rig and trailer. I would be willing to run to CO to bring a few chassis down.

I'm down for informal.
Sometimes that ends up being more fun anyway.:D
If we could make this could happen, I would be in for sure.

BajaBilly, i'm building now and so is 66fj40x2 and Ellinger anlready has one so order your chassis and start building now. Even if we are just informal people will see them and what they are capable of and more will be built. F-toy rocky Mtn, I love it!
1sicbronconut 06-08-2007, 04:16 PM I'm on the list and live in farmington NM so if a deal could be made I'd like to be able to just pick mine up in Albuquerque also. :D

For that matter, the rig and trailer I will get is my buddy's in Cuba, NM so I can get it to Cuba no problem. Since I spend some time in wheelin' Farmington as well, I might be able to deliver if it works out.
1sicbronconut 06-09-2007, 05:58 PM If you deliver it I'll show you some secret trails that most folks don't know about:D

Sweet...are you comin' to TTORA Takeover in Farmington this August?
1sicbronconut 06-10-2007, 09:44 PM I've been asked to help with some trails out in the Rock Garden area even though I don't even own a Toyota:laughing: I'm planning on using the stuff from Hendrix to build a "Formula Bronco" :D

Thats cool...my F-Toy chassis will most likely have a SBC in it :D
MT4Runner 06-14-2007, 08:12 AM Brian, I appreciate the time you spent on the phone explaining some of the good tidbits about FToy building.
I'm really looking forward to this project!!!
Now, if only we could get someone to do this in the northeast. :)
MT4Runner 07-11-2007, 10:15 PM BTT! Guys, get your commitments and the 1/2 deposit in to Brian so we can all get to fabbing!!!

I know...check your PM's. I'm still in, I just need a little time.
alphaOffroad 08-15-2007, 02:24 PM We've been toying with the idea of doing an Ftoy in the near future... I'll keep you guys posted as things come together! I’d much rather get a chassis that’s a couple hours drive vs. a day or two :D
AddictedOffroad 02-17-2008, 08:20 PM Brian are you still doing this???? I just got a free 86' 4runner rolling that I want to turn into a Ftoy. I'm in Windsor/Fort Collins.

Brian Ellinger 02-19-2008, 11:05 AM Fror Will Not Be Building Chassis's. Over Several Months We Had Only 2 Folks Seriously Interested To These.
MT4Runner 02-19-2008, 11:08 AM Brian, I sincerely appreciate your effort!!! I'll call you in a few months for ARP studs.
