Okay I have a stock 4.10 carrier and need to go to 4.56 gearing. Do I need to change out the carrier or will thick gears do the same thing? I looked in the bible and this point is still not 100% clear to me?

i believe it shoudl be fine, i have a 4.10 carrier and put 5 13s in no problem

You can buy thick gears for your carrier, it will do the same as changing carriers.

You either get the right carrier for the gears (4.10 down with 4.10 down gears, 4.56 up with 4.56 and up gears) or get the thick gears.

Yup, got thick 4.56s on a 4.10 carrier in mine.

The factory 4.56 carriers are kinda hard to find anyway, and the thin gearsets are harder to find than thick. It's a no-brainer.

I have one of those sitting in my basement with 4.56 gears on it, took it out when I went full spool.
